The IT industry would have peaked, the ad industry would be near obsolescence, the automobile industry would probably be producing either less units (there is just no more space) or producing new-generation cars - - - but with advances in technology they may not need a lot of staff. The manufacturing companies are consolidating production in some markets, for distribution in several countries, thus the opportunities are contracting.
I guess I would want to be in the hospitality and service business, like maybe a spa. No machine will ever replace the conversations, the warmth of ones handshakes, or maybe even the tenderness of a rubdown. And with people becoming more stressed out, the fees might be so good it will sustain a comfortable lifestyle for those in this business.

#1. The military; work for 20 years, retire at half pay, plus college tuition, medical, etc.
#2. The railroad; they have the best retirement plan of any civilian program.
#3. The Federal Government; great benefits.
#4. State Governments; ditto.
#5. County governments; ditto.
#6. City governments; ditto.
Some large corporation that won't go out of existence in the next 20 years; doesn't have crooked CEO's (remember Enron?); has a good profit margin, and will still remember you after 20 years.
Unfortunately, a lot of companies never did provide health care or retirement; of the hugh corporations, many have given up, as medical and retirement are too expensive.
The best retirement plan is the one you create for yourself.

Every business on earth is dependent on computers, and they need people who can develop software, fix them when they break, and operate them. Computer jobs (with a degree) are in high demand, but you really need a degree!!
