Nihilism implies atheism. What is not generally agreed is that the converse is also true. When atheistic arguments are finished, they terminate in nihilism. Atheists leave unanswered the question, Where did the world come from? If they posit any substance, the question must arise, Where did THAT come from? Only by saying, "Nothing," does the question terminate.

If the universe evolved out of nothing, then it
must be a zero sum state, which means the nihilistic conjecture
(nihilism) is true. Thus atheism implies nihilism metaphysically. If true, then the universe must show rigid conservation, exactly what is observed. In nihilism, every complete conservation law must sum to zero.

the fundamental laws of the particles and space that make up this subjective reality impede us from knowing what is going on in the objective world independent of all observers. the truth is we will never get to know. but why do we feel we deserve to know? the best that we will have is that we exist in a universe where we are possible, all of the rest is subjective conjecture.

You’ve gotta flip the question. : “If God does exist, where did God come from?”

See positing the existence of God does not get you around the quandary of First Cause, because, as per Ockham, the eternal existence of a complex intellect is less likely than the eternal existence of the somewhat simpler Energy & Space-Time.

Nihilism is absurd. Descartes slew that vampire long ago. The contemplation of existence requires existence. We think therefore we are.

Atheists are Existentialists. They feel the universe, or perhaps more specifically life, is self organizing through the process of Evolution. Believers suspect there is a cosmic file clerk.

Both houses have a pox.

Believers mock Atheists for saying the universe ‘just is’ and turn around and say the same about God.

Atheists mock Believers for holding an unsubstantiated belief in supreme beings, while believing in a theory that clearly implies the evolution of such beings is inevitable.

But we have all become Determinists. We all believe that effect follows cause, that energy is conserved. The conservation of energy (First Law) rejects the idea that energy once came from nothing (First Cause) but both ideas reject nihilism (it’s all nothing).

Conservation Law says “The energy difference (from input to output) will be zero”, NOT “there is zero energy”.

The universe cannot ‘evolve’ from nothing, because it must exist before it can evolve.

JFTR. There is no philosophic compunction assume something once came from nothing OR the that sum of everything is zero. But if it helps you sleep at night you can posit the existence of Anti-Energy, which if combined with an equal amount of Energy yields nothing. This would make it possible for the sum of everything to be nothing.

It’s like believing God is so powerful, he went back in time and created Himself.

You have quite an objectively reasonable point of view. However, I must disagree. Time has always been, has it not? Space has also, by reason, always been. What if the deity that was responsible for creating our world is simply made up of all of time and all of space? This sort of leaves the door open for any and every religion to step in.

Religion is such a strange concept, and I wonder who was responsible for its creation. I mean, although it provides hope, it also is the catalyst for many of the conflicts throughout history.

As to answer your main question, just because a god does not exist does not mean that the world sprung from absolutely nothing. Perhaps the objects responsible for the creation of the universe (and hence our world) had also always been there.

Still, as someone else mentioned, the universe does not show rigid conservation. Conversely, it shows entropic forces. Thus, if your nihilism-atheism argument depends upon this "rigid conservation," it is flawed.

Thank you for making me think. In the process of typing this response I've had a few personal epiphanies. I must also apologise for the behaviour of everyone else in here: they are the reason for sadness.

Have a good evening.

you might laugh but this is what i believe . the sun that's up in the sky is god . why you ask ? all the scientist say the sun created earth durring the big bang theory . on the other hand all the christians believe god created earth . they're both right just a different way of looking at .if you believe that jesus was crucified on a friday and rose on easter sunday you might understand . sunday is considered by many as the christian sabbath day .sunday is the day of the lord , the day of the sun , the 1st day of the week , a new begining , a fresh start . don't get me wrong god created the universe too. but how do we know for sure if our sun (which is a star) wasn't the first star and didn't created. the other thing is, as far as we know earth is the only planet thats supports life . so we are the only people in the universe that pray to god . or talk about him like you and i . without the suns heat ,light , and energy earth wouldn't exsit. every hear the saying (let there be light ) ? think about it for a little bit and you'll see that something's kinda funny about it!!! i also believe that a dog is a angel . why you ask ? a dog is the most versatile animal on planet earth . a dog is used to watch your house or buisness. the cops use dogs for drugs and catching criminals. a dog is used to help the blind, and deaf . a dog is the only animal that can smell death before happens . a dog is the only animal that can lick your wound and heal it . a dog is the only animal that will fight to the death for it's master. the dog was the 1st domestic animal to come in contact with humans, dog is god spelled backwards , and so on and so on !!!!

There was once a time very lengthy in the past whilst humanity as such had been very a lot more religious. than as of in these days. Then we've airy our bodies and had been actually angels on this planet. But because the thousands of years handed we took upon ourselves as a way of redemption, a extra rubust and dense bodily sort/frame. We name it involution and evolution as we stand up above the bodily aircraft yet again. This has already happened and we're slightly extra spiritually disposed. Wevare nonetheless turn out to the well the unhealthy and thr unpleasant as a way to say however quickly ample we can turn out to be the well the actual and the lovely( quote.)

A believer would readily answer that God has always existed prior to the creation of anything and was in turn not created, but always in existence. Given that infinite existence must therefore exist and be valid by definition of this religious parameter, matter has always existed and was not created should therefore be an equally valid answer in response to the question.
Then again I have never taken logic or philosophy so I may be way off.

The best theory at the moment is that the our universe came about through the Big Bang, which involved the destruction and redistribution of all matter of a previous universe.

To say something came from nothing in a 100% literal scientific sense is ludicrous.

Don't worry about it. God does exist and He is the Creator God of the universe.

About the nihilists and rigid conservation--that rather flies in the face of the law of entropy, doesn't it?

I think a lot of people would rather be wrong than face what God says about sin and salvation and judgment.

Our universe = 1
Alternative universe = -1
Both came from 0
When they rejoint they'll become 0 again.

Who cares really? You still have to be a good person. And, if god exists, where did god come from? etc. etc. etc.

These are questions you'll never know. We'll never know. Maybe in a million years we'll know when we invent a time machine that goes back to the big bang and see that by going to the big bang we caused the big bang therefor we are the cause of ourselves.

Um, yeah... who cares? smoke something

Scientifically, the world came from a huge explosion in the universe where the atoms and other particles unite to form the universe, galaxy, the world and so on.

But in terms of faith, there are a lot of explanations and theories. So, different faiths have different approach to how the world is created.
In my opinion, God truly exists. Its a matter of faith.
