Japan is not a developing country .it is considered to be a developed nation. also people in IE; India are very poor and that means they can't afford a trip overseas and most importantly won't be able to even get a tourist visa to other developed nations, specially USA. the ones who were able to get a visa were and are the ones with money(capital drain) and /or education(brain drain). there is a co-relation between industrialization and lower population growth. in an agricultural societies families need the labors to work the field so it encourages the population growth.

""shouldnt more people want to move to Canada and U.S because we provide more opportunities and a better lifestyle?""

I think you have the scenario a bit messed up.

Look at the birth rate for your answers.
There is most often a direct relationship between how developed a country is and how many kids they have.
The more kids they have the less developed they are... not always but in most cases.

So if the USA or Canada has below replacement level birthrate, even with immigration a country that has lots of kids grows faster is some cases.

This is a problem because less developed countries are often poor and they are creating more poor or faster than the developed countries can keep up with trying to help.

Uh, sorry to inform you but Japan is not only a highly sophisticated developed country but it has one of the most advanced economies in the world. Granted they have had a long slump, but Japan is powerful economy--maybe you heard of a few of their companies such as Toyota, Sony, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Honda, Matsushita (Panasonic), etc. Recheck your world economic powers.

In developing countries, much of the country is in the process of change from the rural economy to the industrial economy, and women are home and they don't use birth control.

It is only in the developed countries and China where birth control is used to control the growth of the population, especially when the mothers work outside of the home.

I don't understand the Japan part. Could it be they want to stay in their own country and create a decent country for themselves.

The more education that we have the better we are able to control populations. Children show up and they have nothing to stop it.
