I'm 37 weeks 4 days.I have been losing my mucous plug for days now and now today I feel terrible.I feel like I have a fever but I don't have a thermometer here.I just feel hot and shivery.I also feel nauseous.Contractions coming every 3-5 minutes for an hour now. They are painful but not too painful.I am scared to go in to the hospital because I don't want to be sent home...plus I have a 2 year old and I don't want to disturb her from her sleep for no reason.Btw, At my appointment a week ago I was 2cm, 80% effaced and -1 station. What should I do?

Call a friend to baby sit for the night or just wake her up. Tell her that you must go to the hospital now because the baby is ready to be born. Call a friend for a ride and to watch her. Don't think you will be sent home, tell them what you asked about here and they will know what to do from there.
The 2 yr old can nap/ sleep in a cot at the hospital if you really want her to get more sleep.

I went in when my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart for 45 minutes. By the time I got to the hospital I was already 5 cm dilated. I'd say get going! But how is it that you could be on the computer while you are in labor? I was in bed or in the tub during my contractions - not even thinking about being online. Good luck!

i think you shoudl go to the hospital you should have an on call doctor at your doctor's office that you can call to double check if thats what they want you to do. they are all different but my OB/GYN says if they are coming every 5 minutes for an hour adn they are the kind that hurt, then go in. the shivers and nausea could mean something is wrong like an infection. wake up your two year old and go. she will rather be woken up than have something happen to her mama and new baby brother or sister. good luck

You should definately go to the hospital being that this is not your first child. Throw everything out the window that may have happened with your first, because now your body is seasoned and knows what to do and has become efficient at doing so. Would you rather be waking up your daughter to have doctors help you deliver a baby, or to have HER help you deliver a baby? Go before it is too late. If you have nobody else with you, please call the squad.

Contractions every 3-5 min means you need to go to the hospital. Your daughter can always sleep at the hospital. If you still aren't sure what to do, call the labor nurse and tell her how close your contractions are. She will tell you to come in right away.

Go to the hospital. I know you don't want to. But you might be in labor. But you need to have out of you have a fever because you could have infection. I would go the hospial no matter want to get check out. I had to wake my two year old early in the morning since I was in labor with my second one..

You need to go to the hospital. The feeling like you have a fever can be very serious. Fever is the first sign of infection and you need to be checked out, very soon.

Call your ob. They should have an after hours line, or at least have gone over the protocall for after hours needs. You need to get checked out, and even if it's for your peace of mind, go to labor and delivery and get checked out. Sometimes you begin feeling really hot, that's a sign of the final stages of labor, LOL. If it were me, I'd head to L&D. Good luck!

I would call your OBGYN and let them know that you think you might be in labor. I hope the best for you. I really understand I too have a 2 year old sleeping and my husband works the night shift. If I were you I would call my Dr and ask them what to do!!!

Drink water and lay on your left side. If the pain goes away false labor if it continues head to the hospital.
