We're also trying to control Iraq's borders - and leaving ours wide open

While I'm not sure on the whole Government run Health Care everyone is talking about, I would be interested in talking to Doctors & Nurses who work in Countries that offer it & see what they have to say about it. Then talk to Doctors & Nuses here & see if they like the idea or not. I would get pro's & con's on both systems from the people who actually work in the hospitals, then look at costs. If it can be done, & the majority want it then why not look at it. We already spend close to 600 Billion on Medicade, & Medicare. As far as providing anything for anyone not in this Country, or an American Citizen I want it stopped.

Who said it was good for Iraqis and Afghanis?

Because the politicians honestly will do anything to make the Iraqis think they like the Iraqis more than they like us. They want the Iraqi people to be healthy enough to come over here and give away there land and then they'll try to kick them out of the country and no tlet them back in like the Mexicans... that's why I think a whole bunch of countries are going to start a war on America... : )

I really don't like the idea of government telling me where to go to the doctor or whether my care is necessary.

That we are providing it to Iraqis and Afghanis is irrelevant. They don't have a medical system to speak of in either country. I'll stick with my freedom of choice, thank you.

Socialized health care wouldn't pad the pockets of Bush supporters. You obviously are not familar with trickle down economics. Here's how it works:

The wealthy supporters of a conservative president eat their fill of the finest food. Then after a period of relaxed digestion they take a big satisfying dump. Then those of us who actually work for a living get to sift through that and look for undigested morsels.

I'm going to prescribe watching Faux News 3 or more hours per day until you understand this.

I think that it is because "some" (not all) People in America don't want to give things to others (especially the poor) IF they don't get something in return..If you don't believe me, look at what "American Man" wrote above (thanks for proving my point!!)....To some people, it is "easier" to give Iraqis or Afghanis Health Care because we can get the Oil from them (which is worth alot of money).....

I Hope this Helps....

Dangerous.....Did you know that "of all places", Cuba has a better Health Care System than the U.S.???........Is this pathetic or not???

I like the idea of Americans, Afghans and Iraqis providing for their own health care.

The best health care, education, delivery system, construction crew, ....... or ANY other service outside of the constitutional purpose of protecting the country are those run by capitalists. Free market makes it great. That's why we have the best health care system in the world right now. In places where the capital is unavailable, or the market is not free, the only hope is a rich uncle coming in to help out. Right now, that's Uncle Sam.
Our country has the freedom of democracy - that's why we have an open market-driven economy. People in the world who are oppressed don't have that - so either all the people in the world need to move to the USA, or we could help them to get democracy and then they will all live well enough to not have to risk their lives to come here.
