You know, I can sympathize because I too have a wayward brother. I think it is because of the influence of his wife who is almost as empty headed as Bush. There is not much you can do. Facts, national opinion, world opinion, reality, nothing seems to get through once they have reached this end stage. Pray, be patient and keep your finger crossed. Once in a while miracles do happen. Remember that even the Repubic senators are finally waking up and seeing the light, so there is a faint flicker of hope. Good luck and never give up.

Debate with him. Challenge the republican view and let him challenge your views. Both of you can learn a lot from each other by refining both of your perspectives.
Just because he has the republican label doesn't mean he only follows the republican belief. If he does only follow the republican belief and is not open to new opinions or ideas, then he is rather ignorant.

Look, it doesn't matter which party he belongs to - a party has only ONE job to do and that is to get their candidates elected. A party DOES NOT have control over the platform that a candidate will run on. That is why you and your brother need to start researching each and every candidate and vote for the best one regardless of the party to which they belong!
Start by reading a great college level textbook on US Government such as the one listed below.

Listen to what he has to say and be respectful of it. I have a family with members all across the spectrum politically, and I have close friends that are the complete opposite of me. Remember, this is your blood and even though you may disagree on certain things, he will always be your brother and that should come first.

When you get OLD (like your brother), you'll eventually be a Republican because they care about themselves and their own future in their Golden Years...to make sure that their social security check arrives on time with their meds. Haha...
But seriously, it's not the party but what his position on different issues are ie abortion, immigration, gay marriage...and he intelligently justify his stance on the issues, that are not self-serving.

Whenever he opens his mouth to say something, accuse him of getting it from Rush Limbaugh. If he persists, screech like a girl and call him a fascist.
