Old fashioned name. Terrible spelling. The kid will have enough problems in life without having to spell her name out all the time..

I don't know if anyone will be able to pronounce that. I like the name, but the spelling is too difficult.

The child will have to pronounce that name to everybody who hears it for the first time for the rest of her life.

That is just stupid in my opinion! You would always have to tell people how to say the name. When called out loud it would always be pronounced wrong and that is embarrassing!
Try something a little more simple
Shirlee
Shirlie
Shirly

Honestly? You'll need to be prepared to tell people who see it first how to pronounce it and you'll have to tell people who hear it first how to spell it. I wouldn't but that's JMO. :)
I'll never forget seeing Charlotte spelled Sharlett. That really threw me for a loop!

Its a pretty name, but you will have to explain the spelling and pronounciation to everyone. It will be hard to do especially when your child gets older.
I have the same problem sometimes with my name.

If you like the name and want to spell it unique, how about Shirleigh or Shirlee or even Shirlie? Not so likely to be confusing.
