No they will not. After allstar break their 4-1, and they have a fairly easy schedule UNTIL they hit mid august when they have a series against Detroit, the Angels, Detroit again, and then the Red Sox. In september they face the Mariners and then the Sox again. They have a very easy schedule except for this block during august that will take a lot out of them. They're going LA then Detroit back to back on the road. The Red Sox are already 9 games ahead, and the only threatening series they have coming up will be against LA, and maybe Seattle. The Sox will play the Yankees in 2 series before season ends, once at home once on the road. I think its gonna come down to how well the two teams face off against each other. we'll wait and see!

Don't even start this. The Yankees pulled within 71/2 a while back and it went back to 12. Now it is down to 8..Big deal..We fans have no control over what happens to our teams. If they win, we are thrilled,if they lose, we get a bit bummed but not too much, since, we cant help them win. Do I want the Yankees to catch the Sox? Heck no but, if it does happen, which by the way I have never ruled out, I won't kill myself over it. I will just still love my team and hope for the best!

Yankees wont pass the Red Sox unless they buy Beckett, Dice K, and Schilling, as well as Manny Mo and Papi. Other than that, they wont pass the Indians or even the Mariners in the Wild Card race.
Theyll be in first place when the Red Sox decide to go to the NL.

I'm thinking the next time u will see the Yankees in first place is the start of next season when the entire AL East starts at 0-0. I dont know why people are thinking a change of two games in the standings is so damn significant, its not. If the lead gets below 5 you can start asking questions like this one, until then shut up about it.

8 games is still the largest lead of any first-place team in any division. I wouldn't be breaking out the party hats yet.

Watch for the yankees to get hot as they bring in some talent at pitcher for maybe damon. and boston has no idea when schilling will be back so watch the yankees overtake boston in late august to mid september. They will like always get hot at the end of the season and boston will collapse like they always do.
