The fact that society is still male-dominated kind of complicates things. I think maybe you might mean how have women made things better for women within a male-dominated society? All major institutions are still run by men, so society is still male-dominated; however, women are not walking around with bound feet or burkhas, we have equal access to education--something that wasn't possible 100 years ago. We can work outside the home AND be married (something not possible last century)...and so on.

Pick up a book on women's history to see how much women have accomplished. Society is not perfect in terms of gender roles and expectations, and women are not fully equal with men in many areas, but women in North America are doing very well because our grandmothers and mothers fought for everything we now take for granted. I know some men on here have said women have achieved everything. No, we haven't. And once again, I have 77 cents to prove you wrong.

Bottom line, women went about changing society by struggling and pushing and fighting for rights that men consider(ed) to be their exclusive realm. The days of men-only clubs are, if not over, pretty nearly finished.

This is more of a rant than a question. You are over-generalizing all over the place and it seems like you know more about the society of Bonobo apes than your own species (unless this is being written by a Bonobo ape). There is not clear yes and no answer to your question. No matter what you think, women are as influential as men at society being what it is. And as far as I can tell some women are quite happy with their roles and others aren't, as the same thing with men.

Start by selecting several large, venomous heads.
In an atmosphere where wives dominate husbands at home, add a large dollop of propaganda, liberally sprinkle outright lies posed as truth, a pinch of emotion, add in several generous portions of anti-male legislation and bake.

Creates unimaginable numbers of portions but generally only palatable to women.

Serve cold.

It is odd when one looks at the methods involved in the rise of the Third Reich, it closely resembles the rise of feminism with very heavy usage of propaganda, lies and innuendo, the creation of unreasonable laws and heavy-handed dealings with law and legislators.

"German Nazism was the inevitable climax of a centuries-long philosophic development, preaching three fundamental ideas: the worship of unreason, the demand for self-sacrifice and the elevation of society or the state above the individual." Leonard Peikoff

America today is following the same path in politics, economics and cultural trends that led to the triumph of Nazism in Germany. It is happening in the US, Britain, Australia and other "free" countries.
So what will be the "final solution"? I shudder to think.

It wasn't male-dominated. Men had their jobs, and women had theirs. I've been around old people, where the woman didn't work but was still definitely the boss of the house.

It's just that women wanted to start doing what men do. Now they want to be men(equality means women=men, women want to be men).

keep educating ourselves and let men be men and let women be women. we also have to remember that nature is always going to dominate over male and female. we just have to allow the men to think their running the show.

by not giving into certain lame traditions as outlined by society/culture..

by refusing to let the double standard get to them...

by working hard and going beyond what's expected...

it sucks that females have to work "extra" hard just to be included in the male-dominated society.

we did this while you were to absorbed in irrelevant little tigs like wars, fighting to sothe your egotistical egos. We fif not do anything spectacular, we just did what we are doing everyday - giving substance and meaning to society!
But, I love men and am convinced that we cannot do without you. We are equaly important in the game of life.

truly they haven't in most cases. But the reality is that most men will not do what they should do to maintain their domination in society. Clue if you know how to please a woman and she is satisfied then you can do what ever you want. It is still work.
