To run Microsoft Office on a Mac, you need a Mac version of Microsoft Office. The Windows version will not work on a Mac unless you get a program like Parallels, and install a version of Windows on the Mac also. It would be cheaper to buy a Mac version of Word. If you want to run other Windows applications, then you need to partition the hard drive, add Parallels, add Windows etc.

Another option is to compleatly earase the software on the MacBook. That way all you have is a hard drive that is binary based. Then install your windows software. You have to pay attention as it installs.
