PD, So you're saying that you only pray for yourself?
You say prayers are meaningless except for the person that is praying?

It is now the crack of dawn Wednesday here in the US and I am just learning of the disaster. This is indeed a very sad event and again reminds us all of just how fragile life really is.
The victims and their families will certainly be in my prayers. And, as I was reading the reports, I also found that it was noted rather casually that a number of innocents and US soldiers were killed in Bagdad yesterday. In this world of instant communication, we seem to have grown numb to the loss of human life, whether it be via murder, accident or self destruction. We should all pray that there truly is a God who will save man from himself.

I feel terrible for all aboard and their families as well.
Prayers are meaningless to anyone but the one praying so I don't see what that has to do with anything.
EDIT: I don't pray for myself or for anyone because prayers are nothing more than mumbling to yourself. You do so in the interest of someone else's suffering, but the actual act of prayer does nothing but comfort *you*. The person for whom you are praying doesn't benefit from it. If I am suffering and you pray for me I'm not going to notice and more than if you were wishing me ill will. Don't get me wrong, praying for someone is a nice gesture, but it does nothing for those who are suffering.
