Convicts will probably top this list, but as mentioned kribs and angels are also quite easy to breed. The truth of the matter is, many, many cichlids are very easy to breed once you get the tank conditions right. Most rift lake cichlids are easy to breed once set up and settled in, add to that many of the apistogrammas, jewels, Oscars, jack Dempseys, Red Devils, Severums, really the list is nearly endless.... literally hundreds of species.

Plenty of cichlids are easy to breed, but that's not how I'd go about doing it with any of them. The easiest way to get cichlids to form a breeding pair is to let them choose their own mates, which means putting a fair number of young fish (of the same species, of course) together and waiting until a couple of them pair off. At this point, with most cichlids, you'd be advised to remove the rest of the starting fish, as the new pair will probably antagonize them. I'd try starting with one species/pair at a time; if you do have more than one breeding pair of most cichlids, they'll spend all their time defending their respective broods from one another in a tank that small. You could have multiple breeding pairs of dwarf cichlids in a 55-gallon tank, but those aren't the easiest to breed (not to mention that it's often quite expensive to get enough of them to get a breeding pair). And yes, it doesn't get easier than convicts. Just add water. Then again, you're name's kribensis, why don't you try some of those?

Convicts. Just get a few by random and you'll be sure to have a female in the group.
