My little cousin signed up for an ebay acount (underage). I believe she skimmed through it when i told her she was shocked. So anyways she payed with a check and gave it to her neighbor to mail it but her neighbor we know opened it up. The neighbor told me she had an ebay account, (how would she know without reading the note inside) and she knew some other stuff im not going to say that you would only know in the note. Like the neighbor called us and said about it so i know for sure they opened the letter and took the check (they havent cashed it yet). So if i tell on them to get our check back theyll tell my aunt my cousin had an ebay account underage. And if she doesnt shell probably beg me into buying the shoes for her.

what should i do and whos to blame?

You need to tell your aunt. I know that your cousin will get into trouble but it can't be helped. It's against federal law to open someone else's mail.

This is hard to follow, but maybe your cousin TOLD the neighbor what she was mailing, and that's how she knew she had an e-bay account. If she's underage...where did she get the check to begin with? Was she stealing checks from an adult to buy things on e-bay? If so, it's HER fault. She knows she's underage, doesn't she? Being young doesn't excuse her from doing things she knows are wrong. It's possible the ADULT neighbor wasn't willing to participate in your cousin's wrong doing, and that's why he/she opened the letter. Maybe he/she was trying to stop her from doing something she'd regret.

Your neighbor has no business keeping the cheque and had no business opening the letter in the first place. Obviously this kid is pretty young or she would have mailed it herself right? So your neighbor should have handed over the letter to her mother, your aunt, without opening it.

Is the cheque made out to your neighbor? How else can they cash it? If they cash a cheque not made out to them, that is fraud.

Tell them you want the cheque back and if they tell your aunt about the account, so what? She is the mother and has the right to know. And don't buy the kid shoes--if she wants them that bad you can teach her how to save up money to get them herself.

don't buy the shoes and the little cousin is to blame, they have age restrictions and it clearly states that, the neighbor was wrong for opening the mail, it is illegal since it was not addressed to them, get the check back from the neighbor and have a talk with you cousin, some things should just be kept between cousins, there is no need for them to get in trouble unnecessarily

A) Don't get in the middle of it.

B) Your cousin is to blame. She did something she knew was wrong.

C) Tell your aunt, now, and explain to her about the check. The neighbor should return the check, and your aunt can do a better job of going after it than either of you can.

you better get that check back! who cares if they tell on your cousin? call the police, the neighbors had no right to open up what your cousin asked them to mail. however, your cousin willingly gave it to them and she probably knew that she was underage and knew exactly what she was doing. her parents might punish her for a while and that's it. and if she begs you for shoes, be strong and say NO! and tell her why. one thing though, whare did she get a check and did she forge it? whoever did it for her is at fault b/c they enabled her.

That's really complicated, but all the truth should come out,and apply your good intentions and faith that with the apologies for makin' a mess by trying to get away with something, there's enough love in the family for forgiveness. After that don't try to decieve family members. You're better than that. Two sayings:

"Make a mess....clean it up..."

"It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you place the blame."

Own your mistakes.Forgive everybody and ask for the same.
That'll generate a lotta love.

Your story is confusing, but I think you should tell your aunt, because your cousin could end up getting in a lot of trouble.

Your cousin is to blame, she obviously knew what she was doing was wrong and should have known better.

That was really hard to understand, and I still really didn't..

Bottom line, your under age cousin shouldn't be registering for sites that are mainly about money, and your neighbor isn't trustworthy. Too bad the check wasn't in the mail, she could be arrested and charged for mail fraud.

dont let ur neighbor hold that over u, go ahead and tell, u may get in some trouble but at least that theiving neighbeor wont get ur money and u can use it elsewhere...and im not sure who is to blame but regardless dont let the neighbor keep the check.
