Hello all!

I'm thinking I may be pregnant (with my 2nd) although I use condoms religiously. My period isn't late yet...I'm due tommorrow...but I normally have spotting a day or 2 before which I haven't had yet. I've had a lot of unusual symptoms which I seem to recall from my last pregnancy. I also had a little spotting around the 10th of this month (about a week after the day I think I got pregant). I've been really tired, had some unusual feelings in my left side, headaches, a little sickness to certain smells, breast swelling but not sore. All my symptoms seem to add up but what are the odds since we were using condoms the entire time & it didn't break to our knowledge? Thanks guys!

With perfect use of condoms, the chance is very small in that out of 100 couples who use condoms PERFECTLY all year long, one will become pregnant at some point in time within that year.

However, most people don't use condoms perfectly, they use them "TYPICALLY" and with typical use their effectiveness drops. Out of 100 couples who use condoms TYPICALLY all year long between 12 and 14 will become pregnant at some point in time within that year.

So, if you put the condom on correctly at the start of sex, changed condoms carefully after every ejaculation, and also withdrew and changed condoms if he lost his erection during sex, your chance of pregnancy is very, very low as this would indicate perfect use.

If you started having sex and then he withdrew to put on a condom when he was ready to ejaculate, put on the condom incorrectly, experienced slippage or tearing of the condom, or did not change the condom after each ejaculation, then your chances are slightly higher.

If you are not pregnant and do not want to become pregnant, you should look into getting on some form of hormonal birth control. Your doctor can help you pick the one that is right for you and as long as you remember to use it as directed it will be over 99% effective.
Best of luck!
Peace,
Jenn

I got pregnant using condoms with my first and with this one.

I seem to get pregnant when I don't want to. LOL! I was using condoms when I got pregnant with my daughter because we hadn't been together that long (only a month when I got pregnant) and then we were trying for six months to get pregnant before I did and then miscarried. Two months later my fiance is ready to try again but I am not we continued to use condoms and then no period. I am 12 weeks pregnant! LOL!

Condoms are only 85% effective which means for every 100 women using condoms, 15 get pregnant every year!!!

Condoms are only 98% effective - assuming proper use...

This number drops to 82-90% when compared to the entire population - including those who are "in a rush" to put one on ;)

It is also possible that there was a tiny little tear along one of the sides - allowing a small amount of semen to leak out (but not a noticable amount).

Whenever there is ANY doubt, take a home pregnancy test - or make an appointment with your doctor - IMMEDIATELY!!

I got pregnant twice on two different forms of the pill. I never took them late, or missed a pill or any of that stuff. I know condoms are supposedly less reliable than the pill or other hormonal forms of birth control, but in my case, I'm not sure if I believe that!! :) After this baby is born, I don't think we are even going to hang our clothes in the same closet, just to be safe!! ;)
I would go buy a test to be sure. You have a lot of the same symptoms I had. Good luck!!:)

Well, maybe it is out of your hands and there is a higher power that needed you to have a baby? Condoms aren't 100% effective. I have a cousin who got pregnant with all 3 of her children while on the BCP - only once while taking antibiotics... Not sure why she kept choosing that menthod!

I hope it all works out for you the way you want!

I got pregnant with the Mireana IUD (the 5 year one). I found out a month and a half before it was due to be changed.

you can def. get pregnant while using BC. Condoms don't have to break, but just have a tiny pin hole in them.

It sounds like you are pregnant to me.
