Communism is a specific type of socialism. it is even far over on the left end of the socialism spectrum. literally no private property or enterprise. socialism has many different faces with varying degrees of conservatism. nazi Germany, communism, nationalism and many more are all different types of socialism. all of these names give socialism a bad name (which it does have). most kinds of socialism are just too good on paper and too hard to enact....it takes a whole country of people agreeing and sharing on the same level and to the same degree for socialism to work. like France, France is probably the most successful example of a pretty socialist state. it is not tyrannical, but it is fortunate enough to have gathered millions of people who all want to pay 20%+ personal taxation in exchange for extensive social services and the government being in charge of and regulating a good deal of their commerce.

remember: socialism is just social and communism is completely communal.

They are similar, but not exactly the same. In socialism, the state owns the means of production. In communism, it is jointly owned by all.

Religionisstupid, perhaps you should study communism.

They are both economical philosophies.

Communism implying the "ownership by the majority of the means of production, distribution and exchange"

Socialism is the transitional period between Capitalism and Communism.

Also, you can define the two the following way.

Communism is where one is paid according to ones needs whilst Socialism is where one is paid according to ones ability.

Communism is a brand of socialism. Theoretically, it may sound nice, if you discount reality and human nature. It reality communism is a form of totalitarian dictatorship. Socialism is usually free nations experimenting foolishly how far they can provide a safety net for everybody. Both sound nice in theory, but human nature, being what it is, causes both to be a horrible thing in practice to manage peoples lives.

a socialist government wants to make sure everyone is taken care of economically. A communist government wants to make sure they have control of everyone, both socially and economically. Countries with socialist governments often report being the best places to live.
