The course you are taking is probably just on the basic principals of accounting. Basically, its just how the different transactions of a business are reflected in the companies ledger and reported in its financial statements. As a corporate accountant, this is only a small part of my job. I also analyze the financial results and generate key metrics for management, compile the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, and conduct financial analysis for possible new products or markets. Being in this position allows me to see how my company is performing, not only against forecasts, but also compared to our competitors. It also allows to see the direction the organization is headed as I'm requested to analyze different scenarios.

It just may not be your thing. Some people like or want to account numbers because it can give a bigger picture or concrete details and / or answers to what is going on in a business or organization. The numbers can explain what is happening and the numbers also provide information that is used to make decisions. But, ..... if you don't care to intrepret things or figure things out using numbers, there is nothing wrong with that. It is just not your thing. Some people are bored by other things like politics or don't care to read boods or could care less about creating through art; You just aren't motivated by numbers. That's OK.

I took THAT class in college also, it was so boring and I was newly married, I didn't apply myself and with my bonus points I had an average of 24, so I transferred out of there quickly!! Little did I know, I would need those skills in the future.

It's not boring if you make some friends in class and learn it together.
