I have several straight friends. I am gay but they are just as much a friend as anyone else in my life. Of course I don't understand a lot about heterosexuality. I always thought it was all about wild sex. Anyway one of my heterosexual friends told me that being heterosexual is not about sex? Ok, I'm sure it's not about sex only but I find that statement pretty hard to believe or understand. Can anyone tell me whether or not heterosexuality is just about hedonism or is there more to it?

Being homosexual is not a lifestyle.
Sleeping around is.

Well I am "heterosexual" in that I am attracted to the opposite sex. I am "asexual" in that I rarely feel the need/urge for sex. So to answer your question, yes, us hetero's aren't all about the sex :p. You are right, homosexuality (as well as heterosexuality) isn't a life style; sleeping around is.

heterosexuals have just as much wild sex as homosexuals. We have the same insecure habits and crave many of the same things. I personally as a straight woman see little difference in most hetero/homo relationships. In both cases, couplings may exist purely for physical reasons, emotional needs, or both.
By the way, (to one of the other answers) I don't appreciate being called a breeder just because I am straight. There are many homosexuals who have children before and AFTER coming out.

My best friend (a breeder) says" Okay I got an answer for this cat.
I'm going 'WHAT?!?'
as In all things, different strokes for different folks."
MY take on this, is of course they are obsessed with sex. They're breeders, and that's the only reason people would do that (reproduction that is ) Or be willing to take on the risk My God ! The responsibility is profound.

Honestly speaking, till now, it never crossed my mind, and as generalizations are never good, I wouldn't be so quick, to categorize. God knows, the LGBT community has been subjected to enough of that, so I try to remain open minded and objective in spite, of my feelings. Nevertheless, your question reminds me of the mindset of most straight people in regards to us. You know what I am talking about. The misguided assumption that sex is the only thing we think about. It's as if, being gay makes us immune to real love. When in fact, it has nothing to do with sexual preference. Love is love, and the same things they experience, we experience. It's that simple. Thanks, for including me.

Sarcasm aside, it does speak truthfully of young heterosexual college frat boiz. The only difference, society never beats them over the head with morality. I guess they are allowed to act like horny hound dogs, but the rest of us are to remain puritanical, else we go to hell.

I love this question. Yes, I am straight & straight people like myself are a hazard to everyone. We are abominations & we will rot in hell. If only we could CHOOSE to be gay then all would be well, LOL.

Being straight is about the sex until you get married.
Both gays and straights can live a hedonistic lifestyle. I've always thought it was more prevalent in the gay lifestyle.
