My concern is with the heat pipes near the processor, and whether that will create a problem with trying to fit a CPU water block (which requires an adaptor as far as I have seen from the Koolance line).

Also, I am not very impressed with this motherboard's inability to handle ECC Ram. Does anyone know any other high-performance boards like this one, that will handle 4 x DIMM (max. 8GB) DDR2 800/667 MHz ECC RAM? Also, if I could find one that could handle fully-buffered RAM, that would be ideal.

As long as the cooling block directs the hoses upward instead of to the sides, you should have no problems. Koolance makes several water block like this.

As for ECC RAM, you really need to be looking at server motherboards if ECC RAM interests you, you will not find many home consumer tarageted boards that support this technology.
