Two thoughts here, first if you are in charge and the boss, and the people are not listening, this is an active form of rebellion and setting personal feelings aside, you better nip this in the bud and do so in a way that gains the respect of your subordinates. But I don't think you meant it that way.

I have a hero, and I try to read what he said when I have time. He is probably the only person that did not make small talk during his life time, and people listened to what he said.

I used to have people listen to me more than they do now. I'm by nature a joker and perhaps I have worn a bit thin. But to not have people listen is a humbling thing as well and can be beneficial.

I'm not any better than these people and honestly, there are some that talk and I will not respond, (though I listen). I do this as an active protest of their being racial/sexual/whatever trash. I will not be a part of that.

So for someone to not listen, I take it to heart, that like my hero, I need to speak things that people really care to hear. Nobody cares that I saw a car on the highway go off the over pass, but they do want to know of the gore I saw once I pulled over.

I hope that I am gaining the wisdom to be worth seeking out and not rambling words.

just my thoughts

It definitely makes me feel like crap. I have really gotten use to it over the years because I have grown up with a lot of people that don't listen. So most times I just do it back to them and nod my head an say "yepp, uh huh. Yeah." And pretend like I am listening because what is the point of trying to have a conversation when you can't give any feedback. It's almost like your talking to someone on messenger and you are receiving all of their messages but yours aren't going through to them. The bad part of it all is when you finally do talk to someone who can actually have a normal conversation you start to feel too insecure to even communicate properly.

I feel they are ignoring me or not interested in what I have to say. It can be so annoying sometimes. I always listen to people and you think they will do the same but they don't. It's like they hear you or at the least the sound you are making but they are not listening and grabbing a hold of what you are saying.

I HATE IT!!!
my husband never listens to me!!!! i don't understand how everything i say can be that unimportant!!!! i mean, sometimes i really wonder if i have one of those voices that drones on and on, and no one wants to hear anything i have to say to them!!! i have a friend who seems to try really hard to listen to me, but she always has to be aware of EVERYTHING that is going on everywhere, she constantly walks away, interrupts, i mean, after awhile, i just give up!!! but, it really hurts my feelings!!! the only person that really listens to me is my therapist!!! i hope that i am never cured so that i don't have to stop seeing him!!! anyway, the other kind of people that truly urk me are the ones who won't even let you finish a sentence, before the convo is totally about them!!!
anyway, i'm probably boring you to tears!!! great question, by the way!!!

It depends on how much importance I'm placing on what I'm trying to say, and, how important it is to me that the person I'm talking to is actually listening....if we're talking about strangers...no matter. If I'm trying to say something important to me to someone I'm close to (emotionally), and they aren't listening...well, to be honest it makes me feel very angry, hurt, and frustrated. It makes me feel like that person doesn't value me as a human being. That I'm not worth being heard. Doesn't feel very good...that's for sure!

I'm sorry, can you repeat the question... I wasn't listening :) jk

I HATE when people don't listen. It makes you feel so unimportant! And it's usually the people that talk about themselves non stop and expect everyone else to stop everything to listen to them.

Like I'm being a pain in the butt to them, awkward, helpless because I don't want to be rude and say something, and like my time is being wasted when I could tell someone who cares I guess.

assuming a conversation, where i have been listening to them, if they don't listen "back" i think they are rude, or not interested, or worried about something else.

pure frustration that you are trying to explain something and they don't bother to listen. but it depends if they aren't listening on purpose or not. or if they have bad hearing.

If I am complaining, then I really don't care, but if I am upset and need to talk, it irks me to no end, being ignored......
