do you understand the implications of this? the world, as we know it, is going to be so bad, and America is going to fall so low, that it will be irrepairable...all you democrats gloat all you want, call bush names, he deserves plenty of blame, but what is happening in congress tonight, and from here on out, is utterly wrecking the balance of power in the world, and it's leaning towards and in favor of people who don't like this country..think about it.

The sinking feeling you have is what we have right now with the state of our Government and White House leadership. Many think the state of our government is now irreparable. Do you understand the implications of the past six and a half years of of side steeping the Constitution?
What is happening tonight in the Congress is nothing compared to what has happened in the Executive Branch lately. If fact it is probably a good thing that it is happening.
We need a Conditional showdown to restore 1/3 power back to the Congress, slow down a run away White House, and put the United States back to Conditional law.

Oh, we agree. It's a terrible thought! Bush is doing such a great job! The economy is slowly tanking, giving the people despair and loss of hope. There's a never-ending war raging on and on. The value of the US currency has been on a steady decline in the world for over 5 years. It's gonna be so much more mathematically easier to trade one US dollar for one Canadian dollar instead of $1.40 Canadian. Math is tough! And don't forget the increase in hate and division! Millions of Americans uninsured and millions more under-insured or constantly denied service despite insurance has to be a good thing too! The threat of social security being cut had to happen. Can't let those filthy little lambs think they might have a future! Education ought to be out of reach too. Why settle for just destroying the hope that one might retire when you can destroy the hope for one's entire life? And empower religious bigotry too! There are so many ways to condemn one's neighbor - even when they're also Christian! God knows it helps to find the most nitpicky reason to damn someone to hell.
So much GOOD has been done with this president!
At least maybe he'll get to pardon some of the embezzling friends so that people become even further disillusioned with the idea of a democratic republic. Any day now and we'll have those poor saps clamoring for monarchy or dictatorship!
Mending bridges and diplomacy threatens to stop the war, stop the hemorrhaging of the US economy over to greedy opportunistic "friends," and brings people hope that their friends and family might come home from a war that can't be won! No proper orc is going to like that! We need pain and misery and dictators to rule us with unitary executive power!
Only if we're lucky will they be able to continue the slow destruction that was started years ago, but not too fast! Too fast and people might do something about it! No, no. There, there sleepy little plebs. Don't get all excited! Just stay the course... stay the course... sleepy-bye baby... Now bend over and let our pals reap more assets from your powerless fool selves!

I have thought about it and wonder why all of a sudden the most respected country in the World has become the most hated. Yes, I do think Democrats will soon control everything, but I don't necessarily have a sinking feeling about it. And you have to put the blame where it lies and that is right in the lap of George Bush. Afghanistan, fine. Going into Iraq based on lies and thumbing his nose at the UN. Bad move and not a good example for us to set for the rest of the World. And then on the immigration issue. That did it. We need to secure our borders.

Bush , has made too many unpopular decisions so people are "gun shy" of the Republicans.. Even members of his own party have no confidence in his policy any more.I can see their point and can also see a Democratic controlled government this time around. although I personally want better choices from both parties. I don't vote by party lines ,I vote for who I believe can do the best job.. No one looks promising at the moment. The mess is so large ( not just the unpopular war, but our domestic problems too) it will take someone with the guts and convictions of Truman , to get things straightened out. No one even comes close right now.

I take offence to that. You are saying that all Americans that don't want our troops dying for some sort of crusade in the middle east to rid the world of a fictious imaginative schizophrentic war on terrorism are against America.
How about you enlist into the army and go to Iraq instead of sitting on your computer spouting the inevitable destruction of America, nay the world caused by terrorists. If you truly believe America will be doomed by going against what Bush preaches then you should willingly participate in his vision 100%.
Dissent is the only thing that can save America, which you make it out to be that dissent will destroy America.
You would do well living under a fascist government waiting for your pat on the head for a job well done like a dog to his master.

Right. And it's been sooo wonderful under the republicans.
What happens tonight is meaningless. It's a show that will have far less impact on world affairs that the mistakes Bush has made (which you acknowledge) over the past 6 years.

Sinking feeling? Heck no, we've been swirling in the water and going down the tubes with Bush for almost 8 years now. As far as I'm concerned, ANYBODY would be better than what we've endured. I think you need to take another look at what has been going on since Bush robbed Gore of the presidency with hanging chads, etc.

It's been like a bad relationship in the past 8 years - I want him gone!
10 years ago when I bought my home (outta college) it was a sellers market. Ask around what the markets like today. Guess what it was like in TX when you know who was top dog?
The same issues the plagues TX now affects the rest of the US (immigration the tip of the iceburg).
Ironically, the dems have a lot of $ going into the primaries (they'll spend frivilously) and the reps are spending more than they bring in (deficit) - sounds familiar???
Now, don't fret the dem will be their own worst enemy when the people recognize their plan is to be against Ws plan.

I would never underestimate the dem's penchant for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Taking a general dissatisfaction of a restive electorate, then throwing a wild-eyed leftist out there (McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis) and blowing it in election after election. The only times the dems win (Carter, Clinton) is when they go centrist .. or at least the appearances of centrism. No market in this country for a leftist President. But the dems never seem to learn that.
