The whole reason for wanting to begin pulling out now is because many people find it evident already that the troop surge has been ineffective.
Of course if we have not begun pullout by September, and by some miracle the situation realistically improves, then you'd probably have a decent argument.

As much as I would like to see our troops out of Iraq, not only to spare them and their families more grief and the country the expense, but because I think our presence there is like a burr under the Iraqi saddle, I would support staying if the September report shows significant progress. By this I mean clear and incontrovertible evidence that the Iraqi security forces are making definite progress in restoring order, and the Iraqi Parliament makes definite progress toward building a unified, cooperative government incorporating Shii, Sunni and Kurdish elements.

All we can do now is support the troops while they are there, progress or no progress. I heard that the Quran may be behind "The Cause" or the "Holy War!" That "they" have to kill to get into heaven! But don't think it's heaven "they" are going to! It has to be the "other place!" The fate of the earth awaits the "New Order!" That the "New Order" is freedom for all nations! =<)

No, because I don't think we should have gotten into this war in the first place. Afghanistan - maybe. Iraq - NO. There are abusive leaders in a variety of countries, why did we choose to start a war in Iraq. Millions of people have been displaced in Sudan, but I don't see the US government sending troops there. There are still American citizens without homes in New Orleans, but we are spending our tax dollars and resources to rebuild housing in Iraq. It is all a joke and I fully support my troops by suggesting bringing them home safely NOW.

Support this war? We already won the war we went in to win.
Saddam gone, elections held, why are we still there?
Waiting for Iraqis to defend their own country? We train our soldiers in less than a year, we have been in Iraq for five years. Training a police force? Again we train our police in a year, Iraqis aren't stupid, why do they need so much more time. We can stay a year, or two or three, it won't change anything but the death rates of our troops.
You have to understand, I'm embarrassed we are there in the first place, no WMD, no groundswell of affection for us liberators, we have made the general population angry at us for years to come, and can you blame them, we destroyed their country, and killed at a minimum of 30,000 civilians. If it had been done to us we wouldn't be crazy about our occupiers either.

Look, these windbag liberals simply want the US to lose the war to make Bush and the Republicans look bad. Period. End of story. There's nothing good that can happen to change their minds, because they actually have no compassion for the troops or the Iraqis. They fully well know that, if we pull out, it'll be another end of Vietnam scenario. The Shiites will pour across the border from Iran and kill all the Sunnis, including the precious children that liberals are always whining about.

If there is solid progress (.005% chance), then there should be no reason we can't being to leave because the Iraqi government would be making important reforms and can take care of themselves? If the progress is weak, we should leave because we are obviously not helping and never will. Either way, it's time to make plans to get out.

Why? It is an unjustifiable war. We are changing from liberators to conquers, where is the end? What will we call victory? The majority of Iraqis today do not believe it is going to get better until we get out.I think I'll buy stock in Haliburton and Texas Instruments.

That is a big IF. IF it happens sure then maybe I would consider supporting it. However I believe they are taking a vacation the month of August so I'm not sure how the Iraqi government is going to meet any of those benchmarks.
