Depends on where you go.

Community college charge a few hundred dollar per class and that's a good place to start.

Conservatories require auditions and they are expensive. Juilliard is like $30,000+ a year just to go for a certificate.

Look around for some charter schools. I go to a charter school for performing arts to study theatre and dance, in addition to acting and dancing I also receive theatre and dance history, stagecraft, modern american drama, etc. Being primarily a ballet and modern dancer, I also get jazz, tap, african, and improv in addition to those to classes(this is spanned out over an entire year, btw). This school has no tuition, you are accepted based on your audition.

These classes are really crucial. Don't go into the business without knowing what it's about, actors and dancers are BOTTOM RUNG and rank lower than the techs(which everyone seems to think otherwise-these people don't take crap from actors-dancers seem to realize it more than actors though-they are among some of the best mannered people when it comes down to business). If you want to be treated like a star, don't go into this career because you won't be. If you want to go into the biz because you love being the center of attention, don't-because again, you won't be. They characterize the actor as someone who is hailed to like a queen/king-in reality this couldn't be further from the truth unless you are some mega million air(remember less than 2% of actors are working, and this includes the celebrities)

Every acting school in the United States is different.
We do not know what it costs where you live.
You have to call or go to the school and ask them your question.
