around the first of July my female Betta Flame got Popeye. I took her out and gave her all the treatment I could but she passed way. It wasnt time to clean the tank out yet and I still havent.

But now my fish, Creamella won't eat and doesnt bother with the other fish. She's very fat, but she's been for quite a while and it's natural that she doesn't bother with the other fish but I'm worried that it's because I havent cleaned the tank yet. She's showing no signs of Popeye but I'm still worried.

This is my second post but I forgot to put up the part about Popeye.

Popeye is often a symptom of a liver infection actually. So is a fish that slowly gets fatter and fatter. You should be cleaning your tank every week. A 25% water change once a week is the best way to go and goes far in preventing disease from becoming a problem in a tank.

I would suggest you do a 50% water change, start feeding antibiotic food and treat the tank with Maracyn TC, Furanace or Furan 2. Just trat as directed in the package. You will need to start the treatment as soon as possible to help your sick fish and help prevent this from spreading to the other fish in the tank.

You should never totally empty your tank if you have a filter.Get a gravel vacuum(about 5 dollars) and use it to remove about 20% of the water once a week. This weekly maintinance will prevent future problems.I am not suprised your fish have been sick if the tank wasn't cleaned since before the first of july
