They usually say between 18-20 weeks they can see the gender good. I went in for my big ultrasound at 18 weeks 5 days and the ultrasound tech told me she couldn't tell yet. When I went in a month or so later for another one (I was a high risk pregnancy), they could see the sex right away and it was a girl.

Uh, usually they're right. I had one at 17 weeks and the doctor told me it's a girl. Two weeks later I ended up in hospital with pneumonia and the ultrasound they did there showed a boy - very clearly! He's been a boy ever since :))
Perhaps wait until you're 20 weeks u/s just to confirm before you start to buy girl things. Also, do what I did, and keep the lables on everything you buy, that way, if they're wrong you can exchange the girl stuff.

Not at all. Just recently they came up w/something that can tell the sex earlier than the average 22-26 weeks. So if your doctor offered & already told you what you were having, he could be right, or he could be wrong...I've had friends who's doctors convinced them they were having one thing...then had a baby the opposite sex. But hope you get your girl...if that's what you want...I know shopping for pink girly stuff is more fun than boring blue! And good luck w/the pregnancy.

He's probably right, I found out at 17 weeks I was having a girl and I had another u/s to confirm at 23 weeks but I knew for sure at 17 weeks b/c I made the u/s tech show me about 10 times that it was definitely a girl

You can find out at 16 weeks, but they like to wait til 18 weeks most of the time. I would say if they are giving you another ultrasound in the next month to hold off on buying things... If you cant wait I would keep the tags on the stuff and keep the receipts. I know how it is to want to start buying things. I really hope they are right... CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I would wait a few weeks. Sometimes the baby is not in the right position and is hiding its equipment when they do an US. My doctor said generally at 20 weeks they can be fairly certain

I was about 24 week when I was told I was having a girl. It's said it's easier to tell if it's a girl because you can see her internal antimony, I would say it's 95% ccorrect, enjoy it's a pure pleasure having a baby girl :-D
Best of Luck!

I had 3 u/s
Said it looked like girl at 12 weeks, 14 weeks and 18 weeks.
Not that much difference b/t 14 and 18 weeks. Look for the 3 lines.... at least I hope they weren't wrong w/ me... I'm 35 weeks and haven't had one since... YIKES!! :)
Best of luck!

well nothing is 100% until the baby is born but it is easier to tell a girl than a boy is what i've heard. and docotrs are pretty good at reading the ultrasound. see if they are going to give you another anytime soon and have them check again then go shopping. have fun!!!
