there are 1000 milligrams in 1 gram.
A simple way to figure out this is through dimensional analysis.

15mg x 1 g / 1000 mg = 0.015 grams

Dimensional analysis is the easiest way to do a conversion like this as long as you know how many milligrams are in one gram. If you were trying to figure out how many milligrams there are in 0.015 grams you would simply do the opposite:

0.015 g x 1000 mg / 1 g = 15 milligrams

Your body makes good (HDL) and bad (LDL) cholesterol. This is different than the cholesterol that is found in food. Cholesterol in food is just cholesterol -- not good or bad. It was once thought that foods high in cholesterol caused an increase in blood cholesterol. It is now known that eating foods high in cholesterol do not have that much of an effect of raising cholesterol levels in the body. Foods rich in saturated fat tend to cause more of an increase in LDL. Shrimp and other shellfish are fairly high in cholesterol; however, they are low in saturated fat. Therefore, these foods can be eaten in moderation -- even if you have high cholesterol.

The "m" in "mg" stands for "milli-", which comes from the Latin word for one thousand. One gram equals one thousand milligrams, and one milligram equals one thousandth (0.001) of a gram.

Fifteen milligrams would therefore equal 15 x 0.001 = 0.015g
