Yep, did it and doing it as a nursing mom. Keep at least weighing in. They have a program just for you! Ask your leader. Keeps it all in perspective. Congrats!!

Hey, G&L, I just came back from today's WW meeting. I don't know what the H these uninformed angels below are talking about. First hand knowledge is key. I can tell you first hand that you will not harm, but rather HELP yourself and your baby by attending meetings, again, IF ONLY TO WEIGH IN AND KEEP THINGS in perspective. Since my baby was born TO DATE, I have lost 46 pounds, including the 11 that SHE was. She is almost 20 pounds and is only 9 months, happy and healthy. I think you should go. If a WW leader tells ANYONE not to come to meetings, they shouldn't be working for or even doing the program, because that is counter productive to the whole point of healthy weight and watching your nutritional intake. The main thing is, even when you have to take in extra calories to feed a growing fetus or a nursing child, you can do it healthily and you can walk to stay fit everyday. Again, Yes, the ideas you have are GOOD. Listen to your heart and there is a great site called www.babycenter.com ... many smart experts and female doctors with babies will tell you the same.

Pregnancy doesn't have to be death to your figure honey. You owe it to yourself, your husband and your baby to maintain healthy weight.

Peace.

I'm not exactly sure what the weight watchers diet consists of, and I'm not sure if it is a good idea to be on it or not. But I just wanted to say one thing, being concerned about your weight when you are pregnant isn't a bad thing, however, don't be so worried about it that you don't gain weight like you should be. My friend found out she was pregnant with twins in January and was sooo worried about gaining too much weight that she didn't eat like she should have while she was pregnant. That resulted in the babies having growth restriction and somewhere between 17 and 20 weeks they died. When she had to deliver them they were about 1/3 the size of what a baby should be at that time.
Sorry for the lecture, but no one should have to go through what she did (and I definitely never want to have to see babies delivered like that again).... so just be careful if you are going to diet while you are pregnant.

I was on weight watchers when I found out I was pregnant (I'm 11 weeks, 6 days now). They told me I could no longer attend the meetings as they don't have a weight watchers plan for pregnant women (just nursing).

She told me to keep eating healthy (don't do the points system), but increase my amounts of protein, milk products and of course fruits and veggies.

When my sister was pregnant with her second child, the leader at her program made her stop Weight Watchers. She was still permitted to attend the meetings, but was not allowed to restrict her calories. I don't know if the program has changed (this was six years ago). I guess the easiest way to find out is to ask at the meeting.

Dieting while pregnant is not something that is recommended for woman within their normal weight or with a small amount to lose. However, for women with large amounts of weight to lose you can diet with the guidance of a doctor. Do not lose weight without speaking with your OBGYN first. You can decide together whether this is good for you or not. I was a high risk pregnancy and my doctor put me on a diet for hypertension that naturally caused me to lose weight. It was okay because 1) I had a lot of weight to lose and 2) I was under the supervision of a high-risk pregnancy specialist.

Good luck!

... no. You're just hormonal and are worried that you'll gain some astronomical amount of weight, like 70 pounds or something... $hit man see a nutritionist.

I would not diet, per say, but stick to healthy eating habits that you have learned.

as long as you are eating healthy and not restricting calories I wouldn't see anything wrong with it .. also take your vitamins... GOOD LUCK.

BAD IDEA!!! Not only do you need hundreds of extra calories per day to keep your own body from suffering, but your baby needs them to be able to grow.

If you're even thinking about this, tell your doctor. He/She will promptly slap you upside the head, and you'd deserve it. You are going to gain weight. Just deal with that fact.

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!?! strike that... ARE YOU THINKING??!?!?!
