My wife and I just bought a home that has carpet in every single room...including the front porch. The underside of the porch shows that it is concret underneath the carpet. What's the best way to remove the carpet...it's old, it's moldy and gross to walk on when it rains. I'd like to get rid of this stuff as quickly and cleanly as possible, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm presuming it has been glued down to the floor. It might be easier to pull up if you cut into strips first. If it is really stuck, they have a tool that looks like an ice chopper that you can use to strip it off the floor. Then finish with a presure washer.

Pull up what you can, and then pressure wash off the rest. Be careful to wear eye protection, and don't get too close. A good pressure washer will actually damage concrete.

I would have the professionals called, you might even check with your local vo tech or college, they can do this as a graded project. You do not want to mess with mold it can make you very ill! Good luck.
