help him see its OK

that's a hard one, If he's gay and he's convinced that that is the life style for him, Other then admonishing him to use a condom, I doubt that he needs any help. He's your friend, other then the fact that he chooses to like men, nothing else has changed, he still needs friends, he's still the same person, who had something that appealed to you for you to call him friend. And I don't think that has changed. At this point he only thinks he might be, time may change . but in the end, it's still his choice.

Well, if he determines that he really is gay the best way for you to help is to be a good, understanding friend.

Just be his friend...he will need help adjusting to the pressures gay men face. Stand beside him and support him as he finds his way. And this may just be a phase, he'll figure it out.

If you're friend believes he's gay, and he becomes sure of it, there's nothing you can do about without hurting him. It's either genetic or by choice, but either way this is his personal choice and you should support your friend on whatever decision he makes.

Why does he need help? In time he'll be clear on if he's gay, bi, or straight...just keep being his friend and love him for who he is (no matter what that turns out to be).

Accept him as he is. If he is truly a "friend," show him that you understand he is going through a tremendous amount of stress and support. Don't let your own sexual identity confuse the issue.

Be there and support him while he finds out if he is or isn't. Make it clear to him, if it is ok with you, that it is ok if he's gay.
