Just curious....
What kind of Formula is everyone using?
Any problems/complaints with certain brands?
I've received samples from all companies to try.

No, I have not ruled out breastmilk. With my first pregnancy I did not produce good enough milk and baby was always starving which made me very sore as he was constantly crying for more. In the end I ended up pumping and mixing it with formula...until my body could not produce milk fast enough. I dont anticipate any problems this time but I want to be ready just in case! It has been 7 years now since I had my son and everything has changed. Just want mommies thoughts and opinions on the products of today.
Thanks!

Enfamil and Similac are the two big companies (more money means better marketing, but also, hopefully, better research). They have similar formulas with slightly different fat blends. This can make a big difference though, when one gives your baby gas and the other doesn't.
I don't recommend the formulas with added ARA an DHA-they make those fatty acids from nasty things in the lab. They can't replicate what the fatty acids found in breast milk can do. And it's so new... I'm waiting to hear it's all being pulled off the shelves because it's been found to produce something horrible. (Actually, these formulas have made some babies have diarrhea to the point of dehydration).
Most Mom's I talk to are happiest with Carnation Good Start, although the company is not politically correct if that matters to you. I wouldn't mess with store brand formulas, like Wal Mart brand or anything. Not enough money to spend on researching content, and the scariest thing about formula is, it's not a drug, it's a food. So even though it's your baby's first food, the FDA is VERY loose with the standards the companies have to follow with the ingredients. Go into the FDA website (fda.gov) and put yourself of the list for recall e-mails. You'll want to know immediately when there's been a formula recall.

I've tried just about everything out there because my baby was throwing everything up. Ended up using Enfamil ProSobe, because that's the only kind that's soy in concentrate and powder form (all the other's I could find were milk based). She also has GERD which might've been causing the vomiting. I recently moved to another state and their WIC program used Good Start, so we're on Good Start Supreme Soy now.
No one warned me about this, and I had to call the company about it...but for anyone out there who starts using this... when you've just opened the condensed can to make a bottle, and store the rest in the fridge... it does thicken dramatically in cooler temperatures. I thought the formula had gone bad, and it happened twice, so I called the company. They explained that you can still measure the amount out like you would normally do, or you can run it under warm water to make it back to a liquid form. The stuff was almost as thick as mayo! (they should put it on the can or something!)

My baby is 4 weeks old and I am currently exclusively breastfeeding. I have little support and it is taking a toll on me, but I am trying to keep it going through these first few hard weeks. Why am I breastfeeding? well, I know it is best for my daughter to breast feed. It is also free and over time inexpensive if you choose to pump. I tried to breastfeed my two boys as well because of the fact that it is the best milk to give. I am hoping I can make it much longer than I did with my boys. My mother attempted breastfeeding with me, but I was mostly formula fed. I do not know why.

With my adopted 9 month old daughter we are using Enfamil Prosobee (soy formula) we did try the Similac version and it wasn't setting well with her.
With my 6 month old son, we are using Enfamil Nutramigen. He has alot of health issues and requires the hypoallergenic formula. We did try several other brands, and again, he seemed to always have an upset tummy.

I used Enfamil A.R. for babies who spit up frequently because my son spit up a lot. I had to use an Enfamil brand because I was on WIC. I have tried Goodstart which seemed to be pretty good. My favorite brand was Similac because it seemed to be thicker and just sounded like it tastes better. I didn't like the regular Enfamil Lipil because it was really runny and just looked cheap. My son didn't like it either. If your child takes formula well, I'd recommend Similac.

I nursed my 1st and fed her Enfamil. My 2nd is also nursed and I give her Isomil Advance. I've tried others but they didn't agree with her very well. I do both formula and breastmilk. The best thing is to watch what her (or his) burps smell like. Nestle's smells great, but it did give her a little loose stool...too loose for my tastes. Watch the number of diapers, color of stools, and how pleased she (or he) seems after feeding. Blessings.

We were on Similac Advanced until we realized it was causing our son's colic.
We switched him over to Similac Isomel and within a few days we had a very happy baby again.

I currently breastfeed my son but when he was born I had to supplement him and I used Similac. With my daughter I wasn't able to breastfeed because she had so many allergies so I had to use Similac Isomil.
Oh and I tried the Nestle Good Start because it was "cheaper" and my daughter got really sick. She has massive diarrhea for days!!

I use Nestle Good Start and love it. I tried Similac and Enfamil and they both disagreed with my daughters tummy.
