Do you have to buy a restorative version of anti-virus in order to restore infections? Thank you for your time and input.

Nah I'm protected but I want to restore the infected files hopefully without constant subscription.

Virus Software is always updating there Virus definitions so that your computer can stay current, If you let it run out then you are open to the latest in Trojans, and Viruses. The services are generally as a rule send you a bill or let you know when your subscription is about to run out this affords the user the opportunity to renew there subscription. If you don't then you are at risk.
