You can jumpstart with a car battery, no problem.

But don't try to charge it from the car. That is, don't hook up the cables and leave the car running to charge the battery. The car generator output is much higher than the motorcycle battery is designed to receive, and you can damage it that way.

Yes, but with the cars engine turned off. Most cars alternators produce 2X the amps of a motorcycle charging system , but in a bind a battery only jump will get you started.

normally when i buy a new battery i let it trickle charge for about 12 hours to put a good slow charge in it,they wont accept a fast charge good at all i tried that once and burnt a new battery up,try trickle charging it and if that doesn't work id take it back it may just be a bad battery ,you never know how long one has been setting on a shelf before you buy them,an old battery will sometimes be on a shelf for 6 months without being sold, and i look at the date if their that old i wont buy one,if all else fails you may have a bad alternator on it,that will kill a good battery ,good luck

Sure, but hook up the cables to the cars battery first then the + clamp on the bike's + battery terminal then the - clamp to an engine ground on the bike.Unhook in reverse order. This will prevent sparks from occurring near the battery, which can produce an explosion.

That's not a good idea. If you have ever seen a battery explode you'll know what I mean. Get a motorcycle battery maintenence charger and do it the right way. $30 will save a lot of headaches.
