I want to get an acting agent, but I don't know if I will even get signed because I have very little experience.

It will depend on the agent. Agents who deal with high-end professional casting work want to ensure they can get their return on you. For these guys, experience and a track record will help. If they promise the world to you and then ask for money, they're most likely shonky so don't touch them.

There are agents out there that do modelling work and casting for extras or bit parts. They will take on just about anyone. You're not likely to get any big jobs from these guys, yet they are a great opportunity for starting out actors and to also make some useful contacts in the industry. Again, they will need some sort of evidence of experience from you and again, avoid those that ask for up-front payments as a part of joining.

Once you have joined an agent, you do not have to feel obligated to them. If they don't do anything for, withdraw your details and move on. If you start off with an Extras agent and feel ready to make the move to a bigger agent, then that is what you do.

Keep in mind however that it is generally frowned upon to have two agents at the same time, unless they deal with completely different sides of the industry (eg one is Theatre, the other Voice Overs).

Remember - You never pay a joining fee for an agent.

They want actors with experience, training, and something about them that will make them money.

A side note: Just because an actor is unknown to the general public doesn't mean they've never worked before. Most actors start off doing tv shows that never make it through the first few episodes or movies that went straight to video... There are so many shows that go into production after pilot season but never see the light of day, yet all of the actors involved got a job, got paid, and got to put the job on their resume. That's experience.

It's also experience when you've done a student film, a grad film (basically the same thing, maybe a little better organized), an independant film, nowadays there are internet projects, of course there have always been industrials (my best description would be 'in house training films produced by companies for their employees'). There are more, but you get the idea. Byt the time you learn an actor's name, they've usually done TONS of these projects. Not always of course, but usually they've been around the block a few times before they get to the point where anyone knows who they are.

Auditions for all of those types of projects and more can be found on backstage.com & actorsaccess.com. Those you can get without an agent and that can help you build your resume. You should also take acting classes if you don't already.

Good luck!

Agents are in business to make money. They sign people that can book jobs. That means you need professional training and good amateur credits. You've got it backwards. First you learn to act, then you try to get an agent. Do you think you can compete with the finest actors in the world with no training? That's the competition. And if you don't live in NY or LA forget it altogether. That's where almost all the jobs are. Being a working actor is the hardest thing in the world to do. Learn the craft and learn your way around the business or don't even bother trying.

Sorry, those dint exist. An agent would on no account address an green actor- why would they?? That'd be an excellent threat without rewards. you in all probability prefer to be in movies however the opportunities of that occurring are next to 0, yet once you prefer any variety of shot at an excellent appearing occupation you may put in YEARS of unpaid, menial roles at community theaters, college performs, and later perhaps community classified ads. then you relatively can audition for larger theaters' productions and you ought to get an agent to sign you, yet even inspite of each and every thing that, you ought to not. it somewhat is the excellent field accessible. you don't get to do it with the help of putting in no attempt and thinking you have the skills. in case you're actually not waiting to put in years of very stressful artwork and rejection, it somewhat isn't the sector for you.

they want people who have experience with acting...someon ewho knows how the entertainment industry works they dont just want money...they wont sign you if you cant get jobs because they wont be making money...trust me i know this business very well. so try a legit acting school...maybe a big threatre in your area and take classes...dont just do the shows and then start attending open calls to get experience with auditioning. i took classes at john robert powers they have many successful students there..its cost quite a bit of money but if youre willing to do it and spend teh money and put all you got into it then its worth it...because they are a really good school. hope this helps you!

Mostly they won't sign with actors or actresses with little experience. But, unless maybe you are highly recommended by one of their clients, they might want to see you for a interview.

They don't care about experience they care about money.

If tell and agent you are making $15,000 a year now without them they might take you on and try and double that.

yep they will take you!
lots of celebrities got discovered
just by their looks. most of them
had no experience and hit it big time.
all it takes is one successful show
or part.
for example: the o.c.
most of them were unknown but
hit it big cuz the o.c. got successful.
