Usually this is because you are lying down. You may get some relief if you sit up.

Probably because at night , when you're lying down, the baby's movements press up against your stomach more than in the day - which pushes stomach acid up into your eusophagus. I had an awful time with heartburn, particularly at night, and particularly with my second child. Keep your chin up and remember that this too shall pass. A few more weeks and you'll have your little one - and the heartburn will be gone.

Becasue the baby is taking up a lot of room at this point. It's pushing you actual stomach out of the way to make room. This pushes your tummy up and doesn't give your ausophagus ( sorry don't know how to spell that word.) room to digest food properly. Thats why it doesn't really matter what you eat or when you eat it. When you are standing or sitting gravity is helping with food "falling" downward instead of sitting in your chest. When you lye down at night it is just sitting there and that why you get it so much worse at night. Try sleeping with a big pillow that kinda props you up, thats what worked for me. Good luck only 5 weeks left

Contrary to popular belief spicy foods aren't the only things that can cause heartburn. Chocolate, peanutbutter, even ketchup and tomatoes, anything with an acid content in it. I had the same problem with my daughter and the same with this pregnancy. Milk and bread worked when I was pregnant with my daughter, but not with this pregnancy with my son. My OB/GYN recommended Tums with Calcium and let me tell you it has been a lifesaver!! Take care and good luck.

this usually happens at night due to you relaxing or laying down the baby presses on things differently which can cause more heartburn
