The 2004 Kia Optima is essentially the same as the Hyundai Sonata, and would have been first sold in late 2003, so it's been on the road about 3.5 years. That would make the mileage about 16,000 miles a year, which isn't too bad. According to Consumer Reports, this car had a good rating overall, and was good in all government crash tests. Almost all features rated average to very good in terms of reliability, including the engine, drive train, body integrity, lack of rust, electrical system, etc. The only negative things noted were the paint and trim (poor durability), and the heating/cooling system (below average reliability). The price range for this car ranges from about $7000 to $10,500, depending on the exact model and its condition.

The Kia (and Hyundai) have come a long way since being introduced to the U.S. and Canada, and are now considered just one step below the best Asian imports (Toyota, Honda, Subaru, etc.)

if this is all the money you have to buy a car then it could be a smart buy for you ........ all cars have some problems so be prepared to mend .... if you are buying for the road you might want more car around you ... if it is all city driving then you are probably okay and it is a good buy for you............
