Recently my company went through some changes and my tittle was changed. Now part of my salary is commission based, as I am in Sales now. To prevent me from losing income, my manager told me my old salary would be in effect for an additional 6 months, giving me time to establish a customer base and cover any base salary loss with the commissions. Since these changed went into effect my salary has been reduced. In other words, I was told that my pay would remain the same for 6 months and it hasn't. I am making 12K less per year! I feel like they lied to me! Do I have grounds to sue?
Thanks!

It was not in writing. My manager said it was company wide move and nobody would lose money. I will try to contact other employees that went through the same changes outside of the state and see what they say. There are witnesses, two managers in my town heard the same thing. I hope they can help me but I am afraid they wouldn't want to testify for me because they are afraid to lose their jobs. I feel screwed!

If you have a written contract, you definitely have grounds to sue, if they are not following it.

You may contact the labor board in your state to discus options.

You can always contact a lawyer and see if they feel you have a case. Some will do an initial consultation and review the facts for free, but of course they will need to be paid.

If I were you, I would go to the manager who made the promise and ask why exactly the promise is not kept. It may simply be an oversight that they will be willing to rectify.

In any case, if you take the company to court, at best, the work environment may become hostile. Talk to someone first. People today are too quick to take things to litigation.

Unless there are witnesses or it is in writing, it would be a pis*ing contest between you and the company. Find a Legal Aid office and talk with a lawyer there. My advice is to find another job.

What rthe hell, sue. Everybody sues everybody these days, so get a lawyer and have a ball.

And if the lawyer asks,
did you ask them what was going on" what are you going to say? I didn;t ask them! Duhhhh!
