3 - Defend your friend when others are talking bad about him.

4. When you have problems either talk it out or write notes to eachother.
5. When your friend seems down, comfort her/him, talk to the person, and don't stop smiling.

Well I wish I knew the answer.
The thing is, fate knows if you guys will be friends forever, or just for a little bit. Sometimes your friend will stab you in the back, or they could get so mad at you, they isolate themselves from you. But you cant have a friendship without arguing or being mad at eachother at least sometime.
