The major supermarket chains in Orlando are the following:

- Publix Supermarkets
- Albertsons
- Winn Dixie

They all have generally similar prices, sometimes prices are slightly better in one store then the other during sales or promotions due to competition. You will also find small individually-owned supermarkets that may have the cheapest prices of all, most of these smaller supermarkets usually cater to areas with a minority demographic, especially Hispanics.

In addition, you also have Super Target, Wal Mart Super Center, Wal Mart Neighborhood Center, BJ's Wholesale Club, Sams Club, and Costco to choose from.

If your looking for gourmet foods or health foods theres also Whole Foods Market (extremely popular), The Fresh Market, and Chamberlins.

As an Orlando resident, I have to shop both Publix and Albertson's to get best value for my grocery dollars. Albertson's usually has the best prices on bottled water and their meat department is great. Publix has more organic foods, the produce is better...but the meat is usually tough and the sale is usually on Zepherhills water - which is bottled Florida water - and the taste of Florida water is why I drink Dasini or Aquafina. I WISH there was a one shop fits all...but since you are wanting lunch in your hotel room - find an Albertsons.

I live in Volusia county( the southwest corner) and there are two Sav-a-lots in the area one in Orange city and one in Deland. You not only have to bag your items you will need to furnish the bags yourself. Real cheap prices, but the fruit is local grown.

Save-A-Lot has cheap prices. Big Lots also good deals on food. Winn-Dixie and Publix run great sales and list their weekly deals on their website.
