I have a Dell 172FPb. The monitor works for a second, but then turns off. The power button continues to flash (green) on and off about once a second. The monitor self test doesnt work, so its not a computer, video card or cable problem. Just wanted to get the thing open and see if i have a bad connection on the power connector. Any comments appreciated.

It is much more likely that you have a fault elsewhere in the monitor that is overloading the power supply causing to shutdown and restart, over and over. Unless you are familiar with the design of the monitor and you have diagnostic equipment, you are not going to find that fault.

Unless you really know what you are doing around electronics it is a bad idea to mess around in anything that is mains powered.

Also, if it is still under warranty, opening up the back will void that warranty.
