By plastic 'silverware' I mean forks, spoons, and knives. I think if a man is married, he shouldn't usually have to deal with this throwaway 'garbage'. If a man pays good money to put a roof over his wife's head, clothes for her to wear, and food to eat, one of the leasts things she could do is use good dinnerware. In addition meals should be served with metal forks, spoons, and knives and cloth napkins - no cheap paper ones. However, if she has been sick I can understand and that is when there is an exception to this rule.

Um, no. I don't agree with that. Not completely anyways. I mean, with certain meals that families eat like tacos and pizza and during the summer hot-dogs and hamburgers, why would you want to waste your good dinnerware on that? And you most certainly do NOT eat pizza with silverware! (And you don't eat tacos like that either. Or hamburger, and the hot-dog depends). And to use cloth napkins is ridiculous. I mean, THAT is the real waste. Because then you have to spend more money on water and everything just to wash them. Paper ones will add up to less money and so the husband and the family itself won't have to work as hard. And if they have children then the children should be able to use the paper plates for their meals like launch and what not. Which they can make themselves, because if the mother did it for them then the couple could end up with spoiled and selfish children. But I do agree with the silverware thing. I was never too fond of plastic silverware I mean, it just does not work.

All 'N' all, you would have to admit that 'cheap', is a good thing

I like dishes and silverware, too.

I rarely purchase paper plates, and even then we still use silverware.

Cloth napkins are nasty. Too hard to keep looking nice. Paper is more sanitary I think.

If someone takes the time and trouble to prep a nice meal, it should be respected with proper dinnerware.

This is really the first time I have dissected my attitude towards dishes and silverware. (Age 48)

Thanks for broadening my mind.

I only ever use plastic crockery and cutlery if I have more then 4 guests for dinner at my home and I am having a BBQ. My dishwasher is broken and I don't want to want to be spending hours washing dishes after having a great night with my friends. If I do have more then 4 guests, there are some excellent plasticware that doesn't look like plasticware that can just be thrown away afterwards.

We seldom ever used paper plates unless we were having friends over for a barbeque and sometimes if we ordered pizza, but even with the pizza we usually used dinnerware and silverware.

ummm many women work now and really aren't damsels in distress who need a man to put a roof over her head, clothes for her back, or food to eat. If you don't like what is happening in your home I suggest you tell you wife that you've love things on real plates and that you'd be thrilled to do the dishes.

I like to serve my husband dinner on real plates, with real silverware. However, if we have a big barbecue or something like that, then I might use high quality paper plates instead of real dishes because I don't have enough dishes to serve everyone!

But, normally I use real dishes for dinner.

If that's how I serve it, that's how he'll take it. If he doesn't like it, he can get his own plate and silverware out of the kitchen and do his own dishes when he's done.

well, its me , If a male believes he can even consider the term 'let' in reference to his spouse, he is not an actual 'MAN'. He's an insecure wimp, with serious issues, that needs help. Capiche?,
Sandstorm, think ... what man needs to wield a sense of 'power' over a womans every move?

i never use that crap at my table ... even if i get us take out,i put it on plates and use our silverware. that's just tacky and would ruin your meal. those are good for BBQ's etc - not a family dinner.
