Your doctor is an OB/GYN meaning, OB-He takes care of a woman durning pregnancy and delivery; GYN-He takes care of a womans vaginal issues. You will need to see a regular doctor for other problems like sickness. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

An OB/GYN is an obstetrician/ gynecologist. A gynecologist deals with the female reproductive organs. An obstetrician deals with everything dealing with pregnency. Most doctor do both, but you need to make sure the doctor you're going to is the one who will plan to deliver your baby. He probably is, but make sure. The easiest way to do this is call the office and ask- I was just wondering if Dr. Blahblah is an obstetrician? And He delivers at what hospital(s)?

A OB/GYN is the doctor that takes care of the Mommy while she's pregnant. The OB part is the obstetrician, the GYN part is the gynecologist. After the baby's born, you'll only need a gynecologist, and the baby will need a pediatric doctor.

An OB/GYN is an 'obstetrician/gynecologist' ... they take care of all of the 'female' problems and also get women through pregnancy. Yes, an OB/GYN is an MD., and that is the 'title' that they'd put after their name on a piece of paper. If you are not SURE he's an OB/GYN then ASK him ... he probably is, but that way you'll be SURE. IT NEVER HURTS TO ASK QUESTIONS when you have them of any 'doctor' ...

An obstetrician is a physician who has successfully completed specialized education and training in the management of pregnancy, labor, and pueperium (the time-period directly following childbirth).

A gynecologist is a physician who has a successfully completed specialized education and training in the health of the female reproductive system, including the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases.

If he is a gynecologist just as his door says, then you can talk to him. Or, you can just ask him if he knows of a gynecologist that you can talk to. Are you pregnant? How far along are you? Because at about 27 weeks he's going to do a full physical exam, just to give you a heads up if you didn't know.

well ob is obsterics which is care for you when you are pregnant and gyn is gynocology which is for female issues. They both kinda work tohether so most are OB/GYN. But many people who are not pregnant see OB/GYN for women stuff such as paps. You have a baby? So you should know what this is regardless of your age???? MD is diff than OB/GYN basically they specialize in women and MD can take care of all your women needs as well but they are general medical care.

An obstetrician/gynecologist . The Obstetrician area is for the toddler (does the pre-natal appointments and the transport of the toddler). The Gynecologist area is for the mummy. They cope with each and all the vaginal appointments; pap smears, vaginal tests, etc. An OB/GYN is the guy you touch once you're pregnant, they'll safeguard all your pre-natal desires. A Gynecologist is the guy you touch once you at the instant are not pregnant and in simple terms want a vaginal examination or pap smear.

If your gyn wasn't an OB, you would have been referred on to one already. Most docs who are gynocologists are also OBs, but not all. For instance, my doc has retired from OB. However, since I would be a high risk patient anyway, he'd just refer me to a new doc once confirmed.
