Auntie Mame is by far one of my favorite movies. I watch it all the time and never tire of the part in the end where she says she bought the land to build a home for refugee orphaned Jewish children.

But I have always wondered if there is any truth to the book. I know the author is Patrick Dennis and he is writing it like it really happened, but cannot find out any info about how much if any is true.

Any one know? or atleast can you direct me where i might be able to find out?

I read something a while ago, so I'm not sure how accurate I am, but I believe the original author (the dad, not the son that wrote the sequel) said the idea came from the adventures of his aunt, but was NOT a true story.

There was an autobiography titled Uncle Mame, you could check that out for a more detailed story :)
