Okay I love to blast my AC in my vehicle on full blast at the coolest level. Is this the reason my gas doesn't last very long?

If I put it on a less cool level, but still blast it at full pressure does this make a difference. Thanks!

The colder the setting, the longer the compressor will need to run and the more gas it will use. The average a/c unit takes the equivalent of 5 hp from the engine. With the a/c on, the compressor will cycle on for 3-4 minutes, off for 1 regardless of the temp setting. Once the cabin temp is reached, the compressor will not come back on until the inside temp goes up by 2 degrees. If you want to save gas, roll down the windows with the a/c off if you are driving under 60k / 40 mph. Over these speeds, it is more fuel efficient to run the a/c since, with the windows up, reduces the wind drag on the car.

yes it will run your gas down, especially if you have a small engine. The compressor draws power and makes the engine work harder and run higher rmps. The level of cold won't make much difference.

No, if you turn off the AC and roll down the windows you will use more gas.

run the air and be cool --- there is no appreciable difference to a/c or no a/c ..... when you are cool you tend to make the drive longer and that is what uses more gas ......period .....
