Usually I answer it then star it. If it is a resolved question that I think was a good question then I still star it.

i answer first, then if the question is worth a star then i give it a star or a thumbs up some times i give both. if some of the questions are rude or racist then it's a thumbs down.

Okay, I'll throw a monkey wrench into your question. Sometimes I star and do not answer at all, simply so I can go back later and see what the responses were.
