Man, sorry to hear that so much is going on right now!
I wanted to give you another POV though: 42 weeks is not a 'set in stone' - many many women simply grow babies at a faster or slower pace... I grow mine, on average, of 43 weeks. My whole family does. Perhaps your baby simply needs a few more days. True post-maturity is very rare, so don't get worried about placental deterioration, as your doctor will be keeping an eye out for that.
If you aren't dilating or effacing, your chances of having a 'failed induction' increases - she may be trying to reduce your chances of a cesarean.
I think that it is good that your doctor is thinking in the best interest of you and your babies HEALTH.

That's ridiculous! I've never heard of doctors in this day and age waiting to induce PAST 42 weeks. I don't blame you for being pissed off! You know what though, this woman works for YOU! You're insurance is paying her for the work she is (or isn't) doing. I'd call the office and request your appointment be moved to earlier in the week. If asked why, just say that you need to discuss your options with your doctor and you want to do it sooner than later. Then, DEMAND to be induced. You are well past your due-date. There's no reason for you to be going through this! If your cervix is soft and induceable, there's not reason why she CAN'T induce you. Throw a hissy fit if you have to! Tell her exactly what you've written here. Its ridiculous to go that far over-due and you want to be induced TODAY no matter how inconvenient or painful she thinks it may be. (Birth hurts no matter how you get it going. lol) Put your foot down. I hope this helps. I'm furious just reading it!
Thank God I have a doctor that doesn't believe in women going past their due-dates if they don't want to. He has said on MANY occasions that "he works for me, so I'm the boss!" Sorry, not gloating. Just saying that there ARE good docs out there. It must be a woman doctor thing. I've heard lots of people complain about their female doctor.

Wow that doesnt make ssense at all. Normally if your a few days past week 40 they induce. Just go to the hospital and see what they say. She cant keep you preg that long. Thats not good for you or your baby. If you go to the hospital they should be able to help you.
There are many of methods to get you to go in labor but because of the low maturity level of some of the people on here wont dare post. And castor oil taste awful.

WOW! you are that far. I can't beleive that she is going to let you go past 42 weeks. My husband was due on april 21 and born on march 22, he came out with the cord around his neck two time almost died and was so white and scally. Although that was 25 years ago but still now they usually won't let you go past 42 weeks. I would tell them you want to go now. Try doing a nipple stimulation. For 3 hours a day in a about 1/2 hour to hour steps. That might help. Good luck and hope they take you soon!

Going past 42 weeks is dangerous for the baby. I hope your labor starts on its own. Demand to be induced if you have to.
I know a woman who was due to have her son a month before I was supposed to have my daughter... she went 42 weeks and 5 days and her son ended up dying in labor (I dont want to scare you... but going too long does pose a health risk to the baby). The placenta had gotten so worn down and it literally broke away a couple of days before she had went to get induced, which caused her son to die because he no longer had oxygen.

You should discuss your concerns with your doctor and see why she hasnt decided to induce you yet, not to scare you, but I had a friend whos doctor didnt induce her and she was 42 weeks and the day before she went in to finally get induced the ambical cord wraped around the babys neck killing the baby before birth.

By then I was sooooo ready to shoot everyone! I hope and pray you go into labor on your own! You are in my thoughts dear! :) :) :)
Congratulations and GOOD LUCK!!!! :) :):):):):)

That dont sound right. You need to speak to the head Dr. in charge. You should be induces at 38weeks and 5 days, if you have not delivered yet. To hell with that crap about seeing how far you dialated!
If she induces your labor you will dialate!
Remember, you are paying this Dr. to service YOU, you are not getting paid to service the DR. She needs to do what she is being paid to do
I wouldnt have it. That's dangerous and risky to me!
( I wasnt gonna say anything until I read dismantled_robot's post. I also know someone who had a had a baby die very soon after the birth because the baby has the cord around her neck, due to being in the womb too long.)
Honey, with all that's going on in your life you do not need this!
God Bless and good luck

I understand your uncomfy, but i was a full month over with my first 2 children, maybe she doesnt think they are ready.
What is the big deal about having to go to court a week after having the baby? Court wont last over an hour , and after a day or 2 im always up and at em.
If you have no faith in her, call a different Dr for a second opinion................ but i doubt they will side against her...
