I'm not trying to be racist but how come it's mostly (mostly*, im not saying everybody) black players? All over sports it's mostly black players being troublemakers. Like Vick, Artest, pacman and more. How come its not Tom Brady or Yao and so on....

Ty cobb hit it on the head. It isn't race and I don't honestly believe that it is 100% profiling even though that goes on to some extent. It is all about economics. There is an old saying that you can take a guy out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the guy. Plain and simple these young men grow up with very little, work hard at a game, as a means to achieve wealth. They play through grade and high school in order to get a shot at the collegaite level. Education is an after thought at the point these kids start to be ranked nationally. Then they make it to a College Campus on which they are treated like Kings. (Once again Education is an after thought). They play hard for that opportunity to go pro. Once they get paid millions and are in the public's eye the same mentality they had when they were broke starts to resurface. think about it had Mike Vick been some regular guy on the street orchastrating dog fights we wouldn't be seeing any of this on the news. But the Million dollar MIke Vick, with the same mentality has us answering questions like this. These guys are inmature young men that have never grown up out of their "hood mentality". Its pretty sad. sgoldperson you sound like a stupid person that has never lived through any hardships in the suburbs. Just because you watched a commentary on CNN, it doesn't make you qualified to answer questions you know nothing about. wanna be thugs/gangsta? Are you for real give me a break. Try not knowing were your next meal or pair of shoes are coming from, and having to do anything possible to survive for a while and tell me whats gangsta/thugish about that.

That's an ignorant question. I'll entertain an answer though. The question you should be asking is this. How come we are seeing all these pro athletes getting in trouble. By the way have you not read about Bill Maas? A white guy that's gotten himself into a whole lot of trouble recently. Gun charges, a a 20-something girl, Pot and Ecstacy? Of course, he's retired from the NFL. White guys screw up just as much as black guys or any other race. The media is going to hype up the hot topic. The brothers Vick, Artest, and Adam Jones are hot stories right now, so expect to see a lot of their names in the news.

Maybe because it's mostly black players doingf stupid things? It's not racist when 90% of the convictions are black offenders! Sorry, it's just the way it is.

Now in defense of blacks who will read this and get all offended, Tom Brady is no role model either. Gets his girlfriend pregnant and instead of doing the honerable thing by marrying her and being a father to his baby he dumps her! THEN starts dating a Victoria Secret model soon after! I guess when you're Tom Brady, being a scumbag is perfectly okay.

Look at how different people are brought up. ex. Manning and Brady, brought up in good homes with attentive parents who raised them. They know what they are supposed to do because they were told how when they were growing up. They were taught the meaning of right and wrong, good and bad behavior.
Look at Vick and Pacman, brought up on the streets where their parents put them so sports were the only way out and to a better life. Unfortunately they weren't raised on what to do when you reach success. They can't handle the money or the pressure.
The answer to this question is more along social and class lines.

Well when you think about it black people are the majority in sports. Besides in baseball, but then again when's the last time you saw some off the field, troubles from black in baseball... Well you could say Barry Bonds and steriods, but steriods can be linked to many.

Here's my view on the situation. If you go out and do certain things at certain places, you are going to eventually get in trouble. Pacman Jones is going to strip clubs at 4 in the morning. Bad things surround strip clubs. Plus, if you dress and act like a thug, you will get treated like a thug and chances are you are acting like a thug. And you've heard the ole saying, you can take someone out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of them.

It's not true that mostly black players get into trouble. Most sports writers are white, more TV news directors and newspaper managing and city editors are white, most owners are white, and most fans are white...do you see where I'm going? Still, a hell of a lot of white players get into 'trouble.' I haven't counted up but I bet somebody has. Maybe they'll share it here.

Im not a racsist but thats just the way that a lot of them were brought up.

Not just african americans, but a lot of pro athletes use drugs (usually steroids). Unforunately, in todays society the african americans are the first ones they check.

Oh God here we go... Because players like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or any white NFL athlete don't do stupid sh*t thats going to get themselves in trouble. Hell the most dirt you can pull up on any of those guys is the fact that Tom Brady is going to be a father soon. Call me a racist... or whatever you can think of, but fact is white people have their sh*t together in the NFL... black people just don't. Oh that and the fact that no white man is going to pull a gun on you just because he doesn't like the color of your shoes.

I'm not a racist... just a realist.

**EDIT**
See that, I'm a WHITE MAN doing nothing more than stating FACT and I'm getting thumbs down because of it. Its a sad sad state of affairs... yes lets all blame the white man.

unearthlyjoy: Yeah it takes a big person to email someone talking sh*t but not allow them to send anything back. What the hell are you talking about somebody killing their whole family?! Oh wait, you're talking about the wrestler, oh sorry us adults don't watch stupid shows like wrestling, so we wouldn't know anything about that. Why don't you just shut the hell up and go find some tree to hug... oh and next time why don't you turn the "receive emails" option on before sending somebody and email to try and talk down to them... that is if you can even find your backbone. Maybe you should just do some research on what you're about to talk about before opening your mouth and making yourself look stupid... B*TCH!!!
