I am happy that none of you have ever been poor. My suggestion would be for you to read your bible daily stay away from Bill-o and Rush for a month and maybe a heart will re-emerge in you.

The way to help the poor is to pay them to attend classes to learn a trade. Single parents can be assigned to day care centers to work and watch the children of others that have other jobs. Everyone getting public assistance should work in some form on a daily basis. Permitting people to sit around the house and watch TV only increases the number of overweight people and abused children in this country. With idleness comes frustration and the person that suffers the greatest is the child in the household. That a hard fact that those that encourage a welfare state overlook.

Public assistance does not help because you have to be making an income in poverty level to get help. Those who are that poor, could not really survive on the small amount given them, unless they had no rent, etc. for a single mother working to make ends meet, she would not even be eligible for aid because as far as the stat in concerned, she is not in poverty level.

Absolutely not. The programs by their very nature create dependancy. The people on them have no incentive nor desire to get off them.
We should institute a declining assistance program to provide incentive to get off and on your own. One month, 100% benefit, second month 90% benefit, third 80%, etc. until you are deemed flat lazy and are cut off.
Exceptions for mentally ill and all that, of course.

there are many programs to help our the poor but sometimes they take advantage of the situation, for the parents receiving funds for there children if they don't have paperer they will only five money for the children but they cant encourage them to work because they are not legal residents, but if a person that needs help and is a permanent resident they deny there funds of they make them go to work with in one month i don't think that's fair we are all in the same boat .

In Canada I dunno, but in Brazil it's a form to empower the power on ppl.
Communist strategy like in Venezuela, as many ppl get poor and dependency of State, more easy to control them and keep yourself in power it is.
But I believe that such great country as Canada hasn't such "evil". But corruption can affect everyone, so dont lower ur guard =)
