.... you need to have a 'car like set-up' __ at the steering wheel (tiller) should be the motor controls and that is including gears and gas and start/stop if your motor has these capabilities then you are in shape to go to work on the column ( make it yourself or get a welder to help you )) talk to the local boat dealer parts counter 'dude' and tell him you need some help--- he can either be helpful or you can go to another boat dealer -- you need to get a steering wheel that has a cable and is used only on one side of the boat -- this is what's common and is sometimes called "power steering" and the cable goes hidden under the gunnel or 'step plate ' of the side top of the boat .. if you got more questions you can e-mail me ...you will need to get a measurement of the cable to motor hook-up from steering wheel to buy the rightone for your boat as this 'cable' is more than one lenght -- big to small boats use to same type steering

Is the engine a tiller or will it take steering, some tillers don't have the connection to connect steering & shift & throttle cables to.What your looking for is called a steering helm, with wheel, console with binnacle or side controls mount.

What did the dealer you bought the motor from say when you asked them about remote controls for a 15 HP?
