Not all narcotics are illegal.
Percocet, Morphine, Vicodin... these are all narcotics.
I am undecided on the issue of nationalized health care and am opposed to the legalization of currently-illegal narcotics.
One issue has nothing to do with the other.

I think adictive personalities seek out /something/ to become addicted to. Legalizing a wider variety of such substances would probably cut into the 'market share' of some others, like alcholhol, but, in general, the people destroying themselves would still be destroying themselves, no matter how verbotten you make various drugs, and the people who have no problems with drugs won't suddenly become addicts just because they're available at the corner liquor store.

I favor legalizing ( taxing and controlling) every drug. Drugs are an absolute disease on society that is made far worse by being illegal. Personally, i'm sick of addicts committing crimes so they can afford another crack rock, if crack was cheap, no one would need to rob someone to get it. Kids can get drugs easier than they can get alcohol at a store. Wars are fought over drugs in the third world. Gang violence is fueled by drug turf. Tax payers spend billions to keep non-violent offenders locked up. There is simply no good reason to not legalize drugs.
i'm not saying sell crack at a convenient store, im saying let addicts have drugs using a perscription.

These people need to have a well needed awakening and see the effects of Legalized drugs by visiting Amsterdam!! Sure some like to make it sound all good, but get to the underbelly of that beast and take a good look how it can truly effect a country in a negative way.!!

most narcotics are already legal
and smart money says drug prohibition has never worked in this country anyway
and drug prohabition has not stopped the social issue of drug addiction, it has criminalized it
dont confuse the issue ... there is only one reason we don't have some sort of universal heath care or two tier system
so the rich get richer

you can't just legalize crack, cocaine and heroin... very few places are that relaxed in the world...
pot is one thing... but the others... that's over the line to most people...

I think we need to enforce our drug laws, immigration laws, all of our laws. Longer jail time for drug dealers. Personally I would like to see them executed.
