My name is Haimi R. which I hate to death. Kids make fun of my name all the time and it makes me really mad. I have had this name for 15 years already and I'm still not comfortable around it. People get it confused and they have trouble saying it/writing it. Can you tell me what you think about it? Be honest as you can. Don't worry if you sound like a jacka*ss, I'll probably agree with you anyways.

It's pronounced "Hi, me".

I'm mixed with Asian and Italian.

I don't know if my parents made it up or what.

Oh, and if you don't like it, can you tell me why?

Thanks everyone for the honest answers

And oh, if I change my name and I need a reason, can I just tell them straight up I hate it ?

It doesn't sound stupid at all.

I like your name very much and I'm not joking.

Just so you know, my name is Lola Rennee and I used to hate it when I was younger because it didn't go well together and people always exaggerated my last name.

Be comfortable with it. If people make fun of it, give them the middle finger!

Well, you don't really have a choice, your parents named you it for some reason. And I don't think you can change your name without a parent until you are 18. You would think that kids would quit making fun of your name by now. You must give them the reaction they want. Don't get too upset. I hate my middle name so much but really there is no reason to hate it. My husband even thought that my middle name was S forever because I wouldn't tell him what my middle name is!! Just decide that you are okay with your name and others will too.

Does your name come from the root for chai, which is "life" in Hebrew? What a wonderful name to live up to. If Haimi is the diminutive, go for Chaim! Very strong.

Everyone goes through phases of hating their name. Every name can be made into a joke.

In the meantime, do you have a middle name you like better? How about the name of a favorite relative, or hero? Nothing says you can't explain your position to your parents (real arguments, please!), and change your name. TONS of kids your age do it! Doesn't even have to be legally done -- just say this is now your "nickname".

I think your name is unique and because of that I really like it. I am so tired of all the common names out there. I think its great to hear a name that is different. However if you are really bothered by it, (though I think its a great name), how about just going by a nickname. I know a lot of people who go solely by nicknames, or middle names, and never, ever use their "real" name unless for legal reasons.

Is it pronounced like "Hi, me"? Is it a name from a certain language/ethnicity, or did your parents make it up themselves? It looks Asian to me. If you're Asian too, then it fits. If you're not, it's kind of odd. I like it, though.

If you want a nickname, Haim is kind of cool. If the name is from a different language, find out what it means and maybe pick a different variation of it. You might also consider spelling it a different way if people mispronounce it in bad ways.

I use to work with a man with that name...I think the spelling was different. Also I think sounds like the Spanish name for Jimmy. I like the name, at least you won't be in a class with four Haimi's and forever be referred to as HaimiR.

Your name is quite beautiful...honestly. It's not always about how your name sounds but the meaning behind it....

Your name in Hawaii means-SEEKER
Your name in Hebrew means-FRESH

You're not walking around with an empty name (a name w/ no meaning), so be thankful and embrace the wonderful meanings behind your name. Do some research on it, and the next time someone makes fun of your name...ask them if they even know what their name means!!!!

A rose by any other name would be just as sweet. I am sure that Barack Obama was made fun of as a teenager due to his name. He is now on track to be our first African American president. Worry about building your brain, your moral code and leadership skills --don't worry about your name. Anyway, it sounds sort of exotic like an East Indian name. East Indian men ( over 18) are hot! I know your still a kid so just ignore my "thing" for Indian men.

Haimi is definately an unusual name. But it is a real name.

Haimi
Hawaiian: Seeker

I have heard worse. It's not that bad.
If you want to change it, I say do it. Just make sure you change it to a name that you like.
