Increased airport security.
Vigilance of US citizens when it comes to suspicious activity.
Greater cooperation among US security agencies as well as others around the world.
Better screening of immigration and visa applications.
I have no proof but I'll bet the FBI has infiltrated every suspicious mosque in the US. That's how the para-military militias were shutdown after the Oklahoma City bombing.
Luck.

In part it is due to better intelligence, surveillance, enforcement and awareness. Before 9/11 no one (and that includes nearly everyone) appreciated the real danger posed by Islamic terrorism on US soil. Sure they attacked US installations before but the danger of their attacking within the borders of the US was considered remote. They have however made several other attempts. Some of which the government has made public. But the fact that the government has been successful in thwarting further attacks to date does not mean that the terrorist will not get lucky and score a direct hit.
Following the Japanese attack on Pear Harbor the US increased its surveillance and intelligence network against all Axis powers, their citizens and US immigrants from those countries. This did not prevent the Japanese and Germans from making further attempts. Despite the fact that it was not given much attention, both Japan and German managed to penetrate US naval defenses and attack the mainland US. These subsequent attacks were not terribly successful however.

Because terrorists haven't attacked. Plain and simple. We all know they could if they want to. Attacks happen about every 8 years regardless of the political climate.
Bush has pretty much guaranteed another attack with all of the chaos he's causing overseas. We have created 10 times more enemies thanks to his Iraq mistake then had we just gone after Bin Laden and the Taliban. Now look at us! Bin Laden is still free, the Taliban is stronger then ever and Iraq is now a breeding ground for terrorism.
Think about it; if you killed my family, regardless of the reason they died, I will forever hate you. Even if you claim you were helping my people but my brother or mothers death was collateral damage. I will forever hate you and everything you stand for. Now if I have nothing to live for because my country has been bombed back into the stone age, I WILL seek revenge. I'm amazed why the war supporting Reps/Dems think these people are going to love us at the end of this war.

Why do you think there wasn't any terrorist attack in the USA before 9/11?
Is it because of Bush? Why or why not?

There will likely be another. Charlie had 10 years with very little interference to plan, fund and implement 9/11. No one in management had the imagination to envision anyone would have the audacity to do something like this in the US. Even though the WTC had already been bombed during the Clinton administation.
Somewhat improved security and the US presence in Iraq, Afghanstan and other countries in the region have likely made it more difficult to plan and fund a similar attack since 2001, but no activities to date seem to have affected Charlie's will to strike, nor has it apparently reduced recruitment.
There will be another strike, perhaps not as dramatic as 9/11. But is anything that dramatic really required to remind us that Charlie is still in business?

i think that bush helped to increase security measures, which was good, but he hasn't helped in other ways. For instance, bush should have made more of an effort to help us understand why the terrorists believe they are justified in doing such things, and helping americans understand that not all muslims are terrorists and vice versa. Yep, there'll be another terrorist attack.

The USA is still wide open to attack 6 years after 9/11. The only reason the USA hasn't been attacked is because the terrorist threat is mostly hype and lies.

because they ignored a mountain of evidence to allow 9/11 to go down and all the effort to cover up the loose ends. They wont let it happen that big again.

it hasnt been in Bush's interests to allow another. Just wait though. He wants to attack Iran, so he will let another occur soon enough.

if you look at it... al-queda usually takes a good 6 or 7 years between attacks on the U.S. homeland... it takes time to fund, plan and implement a plan...
they are patient and they make sure they know what they are doing...
hopefully, they won't... but I don't like what I'm hearing about them...
